jjakq27
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art.../503200392/1066Sunday, March 20, 2005 Bills' situation reflects well on Bengals Bengals InsiderBy Mark CurnutteEnquirer staff writerLooks like the Bengals did well in the Corey Dillon trade, after all.Buffalo is having trouble unloading running back Travis Henry, even for a second-round draft pick, which is what the Bengals received from New England in exchange for Dillon.Henry lost his starting job with the Bills to Willis McGahee. It's believed Buffalo wants a second-round pick, too, in return for Henry. The Bills might have to settle for a conditional deal - if he rushes for 1,000 yards with a new team, the pick improves.
Section 310
It drove me nuts to hear Michael Irvin continually blast the Bengalsfor making that move. Not only did we pick up a guy who canbe a star in the league (Madieu), but our back-up beat Dillon'srushing record! We also lost another member of the "cancercorner"...How can anyone look at the deal and say it was anything otherthan a win-win for the Pats and Bengals? Yet Irvin was stillrunning his mouth about the trade in the days before theSuper Bowl.
Kirkendall
Curnutte is comparing Dillon and Travis Henry? Interesting..
ShulaSteakhouse
I was thinking the same thing - since when is Henry a comparable back/situation to Dillon's? Dillon is/was clearly more established, proven and valuable than Henry at this point. That said Henry could be a great pick-up for someone in the right situation.I am not sure why people are so down on him in the league, despite his fumblitis the guy can be a feature back in a decent offense. I think he'd be perfect for a team like the Bears, Browns, Steelers, Dolphins, 49ers, etc...,
bengalboomer7
They had him to Zona, but I think they got to greedy and Zona passed. Henry is nowhere on the level of Dillon, but don't let DPM see that cause I'll deny I ever said it!!!

Yet Irvin was stillrunning his mouth about the trade in the days before theSuper Bowl. Yeah, I remember hearing Irvin's take on the morning the trade was announced and thinking he was the most ridiculous "analyst" I had ever heard. His reason that it was such a stupid move -- "you don't trade a player to another team in your CONFERENCE"? What the??? So, the Bengals should trade to anyone in the AFC?? That's ludicrous. You immediately cut-off half the league when you're trading a player? We've all heard you don't trade a player to a division foe, but to the same conference? That's analysis? Anyway, the deal then was that the Raiders were trying to hold us up for a 3rd rounder thinking that we were up against having to cut him. I was happy as hell that we were able to unload him for the 2nd. No question, it worked out well for the Patsy's, but it was mainly still there because the Raiders blew it by trying to be too cute. They could've had CD for a second rounder, but instead they're blowing another huge deal for Lamont Jordan after stinking it up last season. Anyway, Irvin's a jerk. WillisXPress
While Henry isn't quite Corey Dillon hes a very good back, twice he gone for over 1300 yards, he not a bad reciever and his fumble problems aren't as bad as they used to be. Its just not a sellers market for RB's this year, so many good backs are draftable or available (or were) that its hard to trade him since they can get comprable backs for free. As far as the AZ deal, it wasn't the Bills gettiong greedy, it was Henry. He wanted a new deal when he went to AZ, and they wanted him to play the last year of his current deal, which only pays 1.2 million or so.
