Sounds like he wants to be a big floater in a small toilet.

Ego-on-the-increase syndrome.

Giants are into Plax now, according to reports, because of his new agent who represents several giants players

Nope, Plax's agent is into the Giants, but the G-men just reportedly signed David Terrell from the Bears, which means the help wanted sign has been pulled from the window. Sorry Plax! :D

I just hope David Terrell can live up to his potential. Those QBs he played with in Chicago were horrendous. Of course, they could have been horrendous because they had nobody to throw to, which of course would include Terrell. Who knows - but Coughlin knows his WRs (see: Keenan McCardell and Jimmy Smith)...

The Vikings signed Travis Taylor from the Ravens, so they probably don't need Plastico anymore. I wonder we don't end up making a run at this guy if we can get him at a reduced rate. He might do it so he could play against the Steelers twice a year. Who knows.....

Plastico supposedly turned down a 6 year, $30 million contract with the Vikings. The man has lost his ever lovin' mind...

On an unrelated note, Terrell pulled a Plax and fired his agent just before signing with the Giants, thinks he can get more money than his agent is getting him. What's with these receivers with an overinflated sense of their own talent?

Plex...back in blue? From everyone's favorite gossip site, profootballtalk.com

POSTED 3:08 p.m. EST; UPDATED 4:27 p.m. EST, March 17, 2005

PLAX IS BACK IN NEW YORK

Free agent receiver Plaxico Burress is back in New York, visiting with the Giants.

We received the information via an anonymous tip at 2:59 p.m. EST, and we confirmed it minutes later through a league source.

Unlike his prior visit, which ended without Burress getting prodded by the Giants' medical staff, Burress is taking a physical.

It's a far cry from a week ago, when Giants G.M. Ernie Accorsi declared that the team is no longer interested in the former Steeler.

Burress previously turned down a six-year, $24 million deal with an $8 million signing bonus.  He fired his agent, Michael Harrison, over the weekend, and hired Drew Rosenhaus after the expiration of the five-day waiting period.

The former first-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers also visited the Vikings, but little progress was made on a contract before Harrison was fired.

EDIT: Lenny sez, it's twue, it's twue! http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=2015570

Boy, I'd love to have heard that conversation between Rosenhaus and Accorsi...

Interested now? Giants sign receiver Burress

Tom Canavan / Associated Press

03/17/2005

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Free-agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress reached an agreement with the New York Giants on a six-year, $25 million contract Thursday, a football source said.

The deal includes an $8 million signing bonus, the source told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The agreement comes a week after the Giants said they were no longer interested in signing the speedy former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver, and just days after Burress switched agents.

Burress met with the Giants eight days ago and rejected an offer that was almost the same as the one he agreed to Thursday. He then fired agent Michael Harrison and signed with Drew Rosenhaus.

Burress had also visited with the Minnesota Vikings and other teams.

Rosenhaus was not immediately available for comment Thursday.

Burress, who spent the last five seasons with Pittsburgh, brings considerable size and big-play ability to a Giants offense that sorely needs both.

At 6-foot-5 and 226 pounds, Burress has the size and speed to get down the field and catch the fade pattern in the end zone, which no doubt is attractive to Eli Manning heading into his first full season as a starter.

Burress had 35 catches for 698 yards and five touchdowns last season. His finest season was in 2002, when he had 78 catches.

The Giants went through most of last season without a deep threat. Tim Carter was lost early in the season with a hip injury and rookie Jamaar Taylor showed flashes coming back from knee surgery in college.

Starting receivers Amani Toomer and Ike Hilliard had sub-par seasons, failing to catch a touchdown pass. Toomer is coming off a hamstring injury that bothered him for most of the season, and Hilliard was released Thursday after never fulfilling the promise he had when the Giants drafted him seventh overall out of Florida in 1997.

The Giants have been one of the most active teams in free agency, signing linebacker Antonio Pierce from Washington for $26 million and giving Jets tackle Kareem McKenzie $37.75 million to protect Manning.
