jamesbrooks21
Does anybody know if the Bengals have expressed intrest in Kendrell Bell?Haven't heard anything but Len Pasquarelli predicts us as one of three teams going after him.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=2002360
Turi
He's an impact player, when healthy. So for that reason I don't want to see him in the AFCN. But he's a player that you can't really predict his future. On one hand he could come back and be an awesome player in the league and never get hurt again, but then he could also be a bust through injury. HoosierCat
He did visit up here with the Giants, but was quickly rejected when his signing bonus demands -- reportedly in the $13 million range -- became known.
UKstripes
I can see the Eagles making a play for him if they loose Trotter. Also gotta think the Vikes will take an interest, and I'm guessing both can better afford him than we can. For us it's a matter of who can we afford between him and Hartwell, although you'd think Marvin would factor into Hartwell's decision. If we let Hardy go then you have to figure we'll be pursuing one or other of these guys, but with health question marks over what seems like half our LB's (Abdullah, Johnson, Webster), are we able to dump Hardy and take the risk? Personally I say do it, because even if we don't pick up either of these guys, there are some intriguing LB prospects coming up in the draft and Hardy is irrefutably on the downside of his career.I still think that we have to address the D-line first though.. a good line makes life easier for linebackers. TJJackson
Hartwell would be better....unheralded tackling machine
bengalboomer7
If Bell is demanding some coin then he won't even get a visit. I thought since he's been constantly injured we could get him cheaper, but if he's asking for money he's also pumping up the price of guys like Hartwell. Whur CHad At?
With Jeremiah Trotter (big money) linebacker in the fold with Philly, do you think we might make moves for Bell now? Seems like we are intrested in the middle linebacker pos.
CJBestInAFC
There going to switch to a 3-4 defense. If the get another Lb in FA and another in draft, they will have enough lbs to effectively move to a 3-4 style. Can you imagine Webster, and Kendrel Bell in the middle with Simmons and L Johnson on the outside. I can't wait.
Marvin's Maniax
I don't think that the Bengals are going to a 3-4 defense everything I have seen and heard has said this. Bresnahan has addressed this directly. It its possible they will have three Dlineman on the field in certain pass rush situations. There is no way the Bengals will or should give that type of money to Bell he only had one good season and has been injured for three seasons for a situational player Jason Gildon anyone?. I do like Hartwell though he can play. Anyone know if we would take a hit against the cap if we released Nate Webster? I would definitely like a switch there
ArmyBengal
There going to switch to a 3-4 defense. Sticking to his schemeAlso for the record, Bresnahan would love to have a big hitter like Davis. But only if he doesn’t get swallowed up by NFL mismatches. And, when it comes to linemen, Bresnahan is looking for a stout tackle and a pass-rushing end in what remains a 4-3. “I don’t know where all this talk about us going to a 3-4 came from,” Bresnahan said about sticking with his personnel. “Even if you go back and look at the things I did in Oakland (in a 4-3), I don’t know where it came from, but that’s down the road. What I’m for is molding the scheme to your personnel.” This is from Bengals.com articleWHODEY !!!
Whur CHad At?
Espn.com Onetime league defensive rookie of the year has suffered through a lot of injuries the past two seasons but, if healthy, will merit plenty of attention. Can play inside in 3-4, strongside in 4-3 front. that would be perfect get rid of hardy, and bring him in to play outside
skyline
I like Bell, but I feel far too insecure about his injury situation. I'd much rather sign Hartwell...
Whur CHad At?
People are too scared to make moves on players who have had injuries. Then those players go to another team and have pro bowl seasons. You have to take a chance, you can't let them slip away from you. Sometimes when you bring a player in who has never really had injuries and you have high expectations for comes in and gets hurt and never plays. Point is good teams take chances. TJJackson
Even if I were guarenteed Bell would be healthy all year, I'd rather sign Hartwell
Whur CHad At?
Bell is much more of a Monster than Hartwellhe has the speed, and outstanding tackling ability, he rarely misses tackles. Bell was a huge part of why the Steelers D became fast, and chaotic and Hartwell can just tackle, plus he was surrounded by a good defense so that helped. TJJackson
Understood. My opinion remains unchanged :-)
Whur CHad At?
Haha. Well Either one of them wouldn't be a bad signing. But knowing the Bengal's they probably won't go after any of them.
not-another
With the defense we have now, we have nothing to lose signing Bell if we could get a hold of him. I agree Hardy isnt putting up results. If the Bengals dont get better d-players, we can kiss playoffs goodbye.
Whur CHad At?
They could be talking with Bell now, we just don't know about it because of their "never tell anyone what the heck is going on" policy. Ed hartwell looks like he could end up in Arizona, so we have to be talking with Bell.
Ickeyshuffler
A year ago I would've had Caleb Miller competing for time, but for some reason this year everyone (including myself) has ruled him out. He was picked ahead of LJohnson, what's the problem? Too small? He just didn't look like an NFL MLB...
bengalsfan4life
I belive that the bengals should consider in taking kendrell bell he did have at least one decent year in that ugly steelers uniform. But unfortantly this guy is getting old and wearing down.SO i say go for ed hartwell we need some type of good defensive player to help us get this team going into the season on a great start. bengalboomer7
Kendrel Bell geting old. He's only been in the league for four years, same as Hartwell
HoosierCat
According to kffl, KC is negotiating with both Bell and Hartwell (along with a couple hundred other defensive FAs! ). They (KC) took a hard run at Trotter but obviously that didn't happen. Eventually, one of them will end up with the Chiefs.
Whur CHad At?
Hopefully Hartwell. But he could go to the Cardinals. Bell might be asking for too much so they will go with Hartwell, which will force Bell to lower the ante and sign with us
