WillisXPress Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.asp?sport=NFLJust read this and thought i'd swing by and gets some info. Is this just a rumor or has this been a possibility for a while. I'm only asking cause P-Dub would look good in the RED, WHITE and BLUE!! Quote
BengalsMan3203 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Get a QB that can throw to him 1st b4 you go off and say he'd look good in something..... Quote
WillisXPress Posted March 1, 2005 Author Report Posted March 1, 2005 I'm not here looking for fights, but you've never even seen Losman play pro ball so you obviously have no point of reference. Hey we could sign Kitna, he's good at throwing to Bills. BWAHAHAHAHA!Now, does anyone who isn't an idiot care to enlighten me as to whether or not this is true? Quote
CTBengalsFan Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I reallllllllllllllly doubt it, since TJ is all but out the door... Quote
WillisXPress Posted March 1, 2005 Author Report Posted March 1, 2005 thats what i thought too, but with his injuries 4 mil or so is alot to pay him. You guys pick at 17 right, Mark Clayton could be there as a replacement. Quote
denverbengal Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 thats what i thought too, but with his injuries 4 mil or so is alot to pay him. Here are a couple of blurbs from a bengals.com article from Feb 24.http://www.bengals.com/press/news.asp?iCur...=0&news_id=2767Although Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has indicated he hasn’t always been enamored with Warrick’s rehab, he has insisted that Warrick’s injuries shouldn’t lead to a permanent deterioration of his skills.Warrick is due $2.2 million in 2005, the last year of his contract Quote
Chucktkd Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Exactly what was the injury? I heard it was a broken bone. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 What u talkin about Willis, I seen the link from Dayto Daily, but I don't see it happening Quote
slf Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Exactly what was the injury? I heard it was a broken bone.well, in the article referenced above it says ...Warrick, who turns 28 in June, has been under a cloud of doubt ever since he went on injured reserve last year after playing in just four games with a sore knee and a broken fibula. Quote
JPW Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 There has been ZERO talk of him being cut ...It wouldn't make any sense, his bonus money would still count against the cap. What we have heard, is that he will be Back with the Bengals and will be back at %100 for next season.BTW, has there been any talk about just cutting Henry since his trade fell through ?I am sure that you could find another back up RB with your 2nd round pick in the draft. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Chick Ludwig ( dayton daily news) mentioned the possibility of cutting Warrick in a story today. His cap figure is big ($3.6 million) and Marvin cites his injury as a reason WR is a first-round-draft possibility. The key injury for Peter stems from last year; he had his knee scoped and came back too early (for the second Balti game, I think) and tore open the area that had been operated on. The reports are that it subsequyently got infected, causing permanant, arthritic-like damage to the knee. It still works, but he'll be playing with constant pain and swelling and it will likely shorten his career. Again, according to reports. Quote
BengalsOwn Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Cincinnati post talks about it to.I say go for it, it makes sense to me. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Cincinnati post talks about it to.I say go for it, it makes sense to me. If you do that, tho, you have to keep TJ, IMHO. And you probably can set WR in the first in the draft in stone. Quote

BengalsOwn Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 According to the Florida Times Union, the Bengals are still in the running for Mason as of today. And we wouldn't have to keep TJ if we got rid of Warrick.Remember, there are other teams in the NFL besides the Bengals, who also have made decisions about WR's and had to let some good ones go.There is a lot of #2 WR talent available. jjakq27 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Yeah, now it looks like the Bengals are interested in Kevin Johnson according to bengals.com. I wonder if this is a smokescreen or bluff for TJ's camp to chew on or PDub when they ask him to renegotiate downward for next year. Quote
BengalsOwn Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Bengals are trying to get TJ re-signed, and may get it done tonight or tomorrow morning according to bengals.com Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Kevin Johnson? Ugh. I wonder how much TJ is actually asking for. Someone's leaving it seems, and the Bengals are looking at recognizeable WR's to soften the blow of them losing TJ, as a lot of fans will be upset and look at it as another low ball/cheap move by Brown I'm sure. He isn't going to pay two WR's #2 slot money though. If they did release Warrick I'm sure it would be to sign TJ, but TJ will cost more than Warrick will next season and possibly beyond, and Warrick's a better over-all player when healthy any ways.I remember Dillon being diagnosed with a slipping knee cap or something that had to be adjusted occasionally and that it would "shorten his career and cause him to play in pain at times."Six years later he's got a SB ring and going to the HOF possibly. So, we'll just have to see how the season goes for P-Dub I think.I don't see TJ comin' back to the Nati unless he gets shafted on the market, so the WR's the Bengals are looking at probably serve as safety nets more so than bluffs. He isn't going to pay two WR's #2 slot money though. The only way the Bengals could pay 2 WRs #2 money this year woud be to restructure a couple of contracts. A WR corps of Chad, TJ, P-Dub, and K-Dub sounds like a winner to me w/ Chad Jr. (Cliff Russell) and Kevin Walter ready if needed. I'm all for stockpiling the weapons on O. But this will mean that the D has to go pretty much as is w/ maybe some minor changes. Quote

Yup. But that still leaves more than $2 million that could be freed up. Which is, I'm sure, why Marvin emphasized, right after the season ended, that he and the Bengals would be closely monitoring Warrick's rehab. Clearly, they were not happy with how things worked out last year. You can find reports of the knee problems back in preseason coverage, such as: http://www.cincypost.com/bengals/2004/beng08-31-2004.htmlWarrick has been limited in his practice time this preseason as he rehabbed the right knee on which he had surgery late last season. He missed the second-to-last game of the season at St. Louis but returned to play against Cleveland in the season finale, catching four passes for 25 yards. Returning so soon, however, reinjured the knee and caused Warrick to take things much slower than he's wanted.Lapham talked about the knee a lot in early games this season, and how it basically began to swell up the minute Warrick started running on it. Whatever the truth of the matter, I'm sure the Bengals are keeping a close eye on it.As for what Warrick's agent says, well, take that with the obvious pound of salt. Quote

If we can't trade him we'll probably just keep him. He's only gonna count for like 1.2 against the cap, we wouldn't be able to get a backup of his quality for a price like that anywhere else. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 It's probably the best for you guys to keep him anyway, good depth and both can take pressure off Losman Quote
WillisXPress Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 It's probably the best for you guys to keep him anyway, good depth and both can take pressure off Losman From what I've seen of Losman, he's gonna need it. I think he'll be fine, but he goes at 150 MPH, when he slows down he'll get better. But back to Warrick, I thought I heard that TJ Houshmaiudbflagh(?) might be resigned. Would you rather have him or PW? Quote
