membengal Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 :player: Charlie Joiner anyone!?Unfortunately he didn't play here long enough. Exactly. Chargers all-time receiver poll? Then sure.As for CJ---back-to-back Pro Bowls, AFC leading receiver, that makes him already one of the two best we have ever had, even at this young stage of his career. Quote
walshfan Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 I'm sorry guys, I said it in the running back thread and I'll say it now. This is not a poll for best Wide Receiver. It's a poll for the All-Time Team. Carl Pickens is the first one I throw out. TEAM is one the words. That means you have to put teammate and team player in. If this were a real poll to honor our All-Time at halftime of next October's Monday night home game vs. Peyton Manning, would you want Carl Pickens representing us on national TV on the All-Time Bengal team? f**k that guy. Plus he stiffs the pizza man. Seriously. How can you live in a phat house in Rollman, have that much money and stiff the pizza man.Now the other thing is Cris Collinsworth. He did have a deal in place to sign with Florida in the USFL while still under contract with the Bengals. Not exactly a team oriented statement, but it was much more offensive back in the day before rampant free agency.I think that if we were picking a Bengals team, and we needed a 3rd WR, I would pick Steve Kreider long before the 3rd best receiver. He was money on 3rd down, and he could also be our holder.Anyway it breaks down (in my opinion only, of course) like this:Eddie Brown 1985-91Isaac Curtis 1973-84Chad Johnson 2001-currentCris Collinsworth 1981-88Steve Kreider 1979-86 (my pick for 3rd WR/Holder)Darnay Scott 1994-2001Peter Warrick 2000-currentCarl Pickens 1992-99Chip Myers 1969-76Tim McGee 1986-92, 1994 9 Congratulations on becomng the dumbest post Ive ever read... Super Cat Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 I know its late, but can I help this poll? The Man Quote
semiotter Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 Man so many good uns to pick.... :But I think Ill go with Isaac and Chad. With COLLINSWORTH as my 3rd ALT... Quote
Wraith Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Curtis and CJ.Pickens was a great WR but his additude in the locker room and gawd-awful me-first demenor helped destroy this team in the 90's. I wouldn't vote Pickens for anything except worst team-mate and worst person ever to put on a Bengals uniform. I'll never forget his game where he walked his pass routes (last game of the year, I think against Tampa Bay) most disgusting display I have ever seen. One of the dumbest Mike moves was bringing the guy back after he walke dout on his teammates. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Curtis and Collinsworth for now, but in a couple of years it should be CJ over CC.Curtis played in an era along with Kenny Anderson where they did not throw the ball near as often as todays game, but still put up impressive numbers. boomerman Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 When I think Ike Curtis, I think CLASS and CLASSIC. Whenever I see CJ's showmanship and especially K Dubs STUPID dance I remember how Curtis would cross the goal line and causally flip the ball over his shoulder. I'm old enough to remember it well. I'll never forget shaking the man's hand at a Bengals charity basketball game. (Huge soft hands) Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Boomerman, Curtis was Classy, however, he can't hold a candle to the ability CJ has shown. Quote
Super Cat Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Boomerman, Curtis was Classy, however, he can't hold a candle to the ability CJ has shown. I think you wrote your sentence backwards. Johnson can't hold a candle to Curtis. Check out the video of Isaac Curtis. And if that isn't enough register and check out more. Isaac could do it all. Catch it down field, over the middle, short passes. He could block and run with the ball. Chad is good. But no where near the talent of Curtis. Curtis changed the game for players like Chad and Rice. The Curtis RuleAnyone who says that Chad is better than Curtis, didn't see Curtis play in his prime. Quote
