redsfan2510
I think its time to maybe clean house . I would trade or cut Hardy and replace him with Landon Johnson. Then I would cut Peter Warrick and then trade Kitna. Then think about trading Rudi to the dolphins for a defensive starter. We could then sign Alexander. With the exta picks we could have the luxury of taking the best player availabe and maybe steal a first rounder that falls like we did with Eric Steibach. Maybe we should pickup a kicker for kickoffs too. Theres alot of difference in enemy offenses starting on the ten instead of the thirty. BengalszoneBilly
Then think about trading Rudi to the dolphins for a defensive starter. We could then sign Alexander. With both Rudi and Shaun both on the market and available to the Dolphins, don't you think they'd go for Shaun instead? I suppose it all boils down to how much money they have available to sign either player. Same for the Bengals.
ShulaSteakhouse
Gotta sign TJ first before cutting Warrick. I like having Kitna as insurance, a lot.I'm all for cutting guys like Hardy if they save a lot of $ though. He's worthless. But I'm also all for keeping the offensive core together including Rudi, Warrick and TJ.Again, the Bengals need to get out of the cycle of cutting and trading proven players as soon as they get good and want real $, and relying on unproven draft picks.Enough of that. Other teams have no problems keeping 3-5 stars around, the Bengals shouldn't be any different.
CTBengalsFan
Reggie Kelley also needs to be cut asap.
HairOnFire
Chick Ludwig wrote an article recently about the possibility of trading Kitna that included a few remarks from Marvin. If I remember correctly, Lewis didn't sound very excited by the idea, but seemed open to considering it if the trade return was high enough. For the record, I agree....totally. If you can get a first day pick for a player you hope never plays you do the deal without giving it a 2nd thought. Ludwig went on to promote the trade idea even if the return was as little as a 4th or 5th round pick....an idea that left me cold.
glnwf
Clean house . I would trade or cut Hardy and replace him with Landon Johnson. BengalNation1281
I don't see why there are so many who want to get rid of Kitna. Although he has struggled at times, he is one of the best backups in the league and needs to get credit for it. I would rather have Kitna, a veteran who can play a pretty decent game of football and has helped the team become what it is, behind Palmer than any of the FA 2nd-stringers or an untested rookie. Let go of Hardy, but keep Kitna.BN1281

kingwilly
RUDI-I would Tag-and-Trade Rudi at this point. A defensive starter and a 2nd rounder would be fine by me. A decent DT from OAK, PHI, AZ would be fine plus their 2nd round pick.TJ-If he balks at the offer, then..ciao...as was pointed out so well by another poster, he had one decent year, but is slow(er) by NFL standards, and until this year, injury prone. Better talent can be had in the draft. We should not go 1st round for a WR but more likely 3rd/4th/5th. Plenty of decent guys out there.Free Agnecy - Do not overspend for a Shaun Alexander. They have already spent the $$$ on Perry, for better or worse, and the probelms on D scream for help. Get a player who can start and produce on D in FA. For us to expect to draft a DE/DT who can make an impact in his rookie year is a big error, given where we draft.Draft-I am more inclined to take a:1st - S - Thomas Davis (if Marvin chooses) or Shazor (if Mike Brown chooses)2nd - TE - Alex Smith (via trade w/ OAK or AZ for Rudi) Stanford2nd - DE - Dan Cody OK3rd - DT - Mike Patterson USC4th - RB - Brandon Jacobs Southern Illini (big boy for goal-line and 3rd/4th and short)5th - S - Diamond Ferri Syracuse6th - WR - Dante Ridgeway Ball State7th - WR - Chad Owens Hawaii (dude has the quicks, like Warrick)All of this is contingent on getting a nice defensive starter as part of the package for Rudi. If Warrick progresses enough to warrant confidence that he will return at 100%, then TJ is a goner. K-Dub, and available talent in the draft will shore up WR position. If Warrick is cut, highly doubtful, then TJ may stay and draft focus can go back to D, with an additional LB or DT taken in the mid to late rounds.JM.02$

BengalNation1281
kingwilly, why would it be Shazor if Mike Brown chooses? That would lead me to believe that you think that Shazor is a bad idea, since Mike Brown is not exactly a draft guru *UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY*I wouldn't mind Thomas Davis at all, but I would much rather have Shazor. Jungle_Fever
Been a while but I'm getting draft fever again. keep in mind that this game is all about salary cap. We have limited resources. It's not about being cheap its about getting the biggest bang for the buck. Marvin will allocate the dollars for biggest benefit. I'm sure he has a value in mind for TJ and Rudi and if they exceed that value he is not going to bring them back.Kitna is way over paid for a backup QB. If we have to depend on him, we are done anyway. If we can move him, I say move him.Hardy, haven't seen much from him and we have some pretty good rookies with a year under their belts. I think the LB's will be much better this year so again with the bang for buck...if Hardy's not worth it, cut em.
bengalboomer7
Me and you think alike Kingwilly, I said that about TJ, but I have a little different view on Rudi. From what I hear, if it's up to marvin he will choose Jamal Brimmer S from UNLV, he wanted him last year but he didn't come outI love your first four picks too!!If we got Davis, Cody, Smith, and Patterson, that would be great, although I have some doubts about "baby sapp"
kingwilly
Shazor is a good but what I meant is that he is not a 1st round pick. He is slotted in the late 2nd/3rd round as far as I can tell. If Brown s still pulling the strings, then Shazor as a reach in the first round, when he is not the "best player available" would not be unimaginable. This guy facinates me...WR Vincent Jackson 6-5 225 4.5 Northern ColoradoSize, speed, but a small school. Hmm..4th-6th round steal? How about this guy...LB Robert McCune 6-2 245 4.4 LouisvilleCan you say bye-bye Hardy? The combine will re-org this whole picture. whodey_88
2nd - TE - Alex Smith (via trade w/ OAK or AZ for Rudi) Stanford....i like the idea....but they wouldn't give a 2nd round pick for corey.....so they ain't gonna give it up for rudi..... kingwilly
The Raider let CD go and look what kind of season they had. Davis a nut so, maybe he learned from his mistake. The defensive players I have on my draft list is more of a dream. Probably not going to happen. One or two, maybe, but it is just a "wish-list".Brimmer is another small school/conf player who is talented. I say, "WHy Not?"If we end up with Perry (no Rudi) we better snag the best TE/WR/RB's avaiable from the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds. I am so unsold on Perry... not-another
Rudi started really good for his first season here. Think about the progress. He cant get any worse. I think we keep both Perry and Rudi. We cut Warrick, sign TJ. And then work on the defense. Which is major repairs.
ArmyBengal
Shazor is an animal... 6'4, 226lbs, and runs 4.5Big Ten = Fast WRs and Manimal DBsI like bengal nation, love this guy. Late 2nd, early 3rd ?? Not a chance in hell. This guy will be off the board not even 10 pick into the second IMHO. I have said it before and will continue to say it, hoping it comes to fruition... Trade down late in the first for an additional 2nd, pick up Shazor late in the first and get our center of the future in the second. DTs are week in this draft IMO, so to take one in the second wouldn't bother me. With Simon being tagged, DT MUST BE ADDRESSED !!! Wouldn't suprise me to take one at #17 if we stay put.Kitna costs a ton for a backup I agree, however, I love the mentorship he provides Carson. Hardy on the other hand... Bye Bye !!! Pack your s**t...Can we please cut some TE weight and get someone worth a d**n ???We have alot of different directions to go in with this draft... Should be fun...WHODEY !!! bengalboomer7
I kinda agree, I just wish I knew if Askew could be the answer. Just like with Rudi and Perry, if Askew would hae showed us more (like langston Moore did, but still only a third guy in my book) then DT wouldn't be as much concern. I don't think it's as much a DE or DT we just don't have a guy good enough to draw a double team so teams can just sit their line back and block easily! I want him if we trade down to the late-1st or in the 2nd round. Last year, my main want for the Bengals was a guy who was projected as a 3rd rounder, and he went at #49 and looks as if he could be a solid player in the near future. He, my friends, is Keiwan Ratliff. So I don't think Shazor should be our #17, but I think he should be a Bengal.BN1281
