Kirkendall
If Warrick is bouncing back, we can wave bye-bye to Housh.Absolutely. Not only can, but should wave bye-bye.So nothing is really likely to happen for a while on those fronts...but they could get Willie done, just like they could have gotten Kitna done far sooner last year. Instead we seem to be heading toward the same place where they complain they have no space yet ignore opportunities to free some up. I'd be disappointed if that happened again.Me too. ....I know Marvin's got a plan....and he's gonna stick to it...and I for one have grown to trust the decisions he makes...Great! But it's still fun to talk about it. Oh, welcome to the board WD88.
LesterLyles
While it seems high for a guy who has really had only one very good season, over medium to long term deal, its not too bad. As was mentioned earlier, McCairens got a very similar deal and they are very similar WRs.
Bobcat Bengal
Kelly Washington is s**t. I've never liked him and his stupid ass celebrations acting like he's TO or something. The guy makes two catches a game and acts like he just caught the winning TD in the super bowl on every one of them. But hell he did only have one less TD than TJ this season That's some mighty strong hater-ism right thurr....
Bobcat Bengal
Jerry Porter... Now he would be a welcome addition to the team.Dude is uber-talented, but playing with Kerry Collins, you'd never know.
redsfan2
The problem though BB, is that signing TJ turns our WR roster from desperation, to adequate. I say that because we still don't know if PW will play another down, and Washington, IMHO, has turned shown absolutely nothing! If you draft a WR, you're looking to possibly replace PW and not TJ. That’s the problem. If we rely on Chad with average at best receivers around him, he'll be triple team all game and the passing game (with no deep threat anyway) will crash. Kirkendall
Hate to be the stick in the mud here ...... but ( there's always a but ) ...Take the sentence about " has IMHO has shown absolutely nothing " ....... replace " Washington " with " TJ "......... And all of a sudden this turns into a post that's from last year or the year before.I think there's a difference here boz. We thought PW would be healthy and wouldn't have to worry about him. Now the $2.28 million -- $2,481,667 against the cap -- WR is questionable to even play at full strength again. I think this team is in desperate need for a #2 receiver and I don't think TJ is it. I do think though, he has potential of being a great slot guy for a few seasons. Either way, we need someone else to relieve some pressure on Chad. ... and everybody's still not convinced about him.I'm not sure it's a convincing matter of how good he is, he's a good football player, everyone acknowledges that. But I think the measure comes from the glaring need to upgrade our defense -- and usually a lot of money available makes fans comfortable with re-signing someone like Rudi. The more anger though, with Rudi, is the automatic demands he's throwing out; sitting if tagged which he won't do anyway if he's smart. It's indirectly apart of the hate Coreyhate-syndrom which is completely justified. The Akili " yer killin me " Smith scars run deep, and I'm leery of giving anybody a good, long contract that is based on one years stats.I can see your point, but Rudi's is after a season in the NFL playing against the league's better defenses all season and STILL breaking the Bengals record for rushing yards in a season. That's a good argument for a long term deal. As for Akili, well, let us all forget his name. PLEASE!!

Wasn't suggesting that Rudi would be getting signed on one years stats. This was his 2nd year of proving that he could carry the load .... and I think he can. I was questioning whether or not TJ could bring another good solid season back to back in order to prove that last year wasn't a fluke. Not knowing whether or not PDub will be able to return makes is all the more critical that they get it right when deciding about TJ. I like TJ. I was glad to see him have a breakout year ........ but I have ot admit that I still have questions. Was it really a breakout year or an aberation ??????? I'd hate ot see him signed to a pricey long term contract only to find out that he was playing over his head last year. ( ghost of Yer killin me rattles his chains and wails loudly ) I was using Rudi ( last year ) as a comparison. No doubt that we need a guy to compliment CJ. Its just a matter of whether we have to draft him or if he's already on the roster ??????????
LesterLyles
The friggin problem w/ these guys is they see a guy like Laverneous Coles get a $13 mm bonus and it brought the scale up at that position. Snyderbrenner has screwed up salary scales at several positions and his team still stinks.
CTBengalsFan
http://www.lance1360homer.com/blog.asp"Breaking news: Response from CBS report on TJ From Pete Priso CBSSPORTSLINE.COMWord out of Cincinnati is that wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is asking for a contract with a signing bonus of $8 million. While Houshmandzadeh came on late and became a key factor down the stretch for the Bengals, it's doubtful the team will give him that kind of money, which would mean he would become an unrestricted free agent. The one knock on Houzmandzadeh is that he doesn't run that well, and that never helps drive up the price on the free-agent market.I am told the following this afternoon by those close to negotiations between the Bengals and TJ:"The report from CBS and Pete Prisco is a complete and utter fabrication! It is safe to say the money being discussed is millions of dollar off what Pete is reporting.""

jditty47
id love porter as our 2nd with warrick in the slot. i say make a run at him unless we can get a good receiver than can start right away in the draft.
walshfan
Told y'all to beware, it was unsourced rumor... Well I suppose we really dont know who to believe Pete Prisco of CBS or Lance McCalister a radio talk show host in Dayton.I hope he isnt asking for that amount. Id like to see him come back at a price thats ressonable to both parties..
Kirkendall
Well I suppose we really dont know who to believe Pete Prisco of CBS or Lance McCalister a radio talk show host in Dayton. Oh, Lance all the way, without a doubt. Lance has more invested in his show while Prisco provides us with rumors and "fabrications". Lance, Lance, Lance! bengalsfan33
What about Roddy White or Troy Williamson? Williamson will be taken late first round; that's if we don't take him. I'd say we just go with Roddy White in the second round...
