I know it's not Wild Bill's dead mans hand...It is a perfect hand in the card game Euchre, if the suit you are holding is the suit that is called. The Jack of Hearts is the highest card , then the Jack of Diamonds and on down. Click on my screen name and it explains it a little better. I'm still working on that whole Texas Hold 'em thing though. I've got a long way to go.
TubThumper
This is football, not politics, I'm not sure what to say about wanting him to go somewhere else, you must be crazy! But, I'm sure Marvin is reading this right now and is outraged by the comment and is submitting his resume all over the country right now. Give me a break, lighten up a little, it is Martin Luther King day! Actually, politics probably had more to do with your beloved Coach Lewis being here than you realize. TubThumper
It was Peter Warrick during training camp. Tub-Humper, just let it go, you sound like a clowns fan... If people want to go along with Warrick in saying he is an Icon and someone to have faith in the things he is doing, then let them, without opening your mouth and demonstrating your lack of class or loyalty. :player: Well, I've had to kick an ass or two because someone thought they could call me something because some other idiot gave them the idea that it was OK, and they couldn't deal with being told that it was unacceptable. They thought I was unreasonable and classless and all that, but their ass was just as kicked. As I recall, one guy was a team mate, so I guess he thought I was disloyal too. *@#! him. Well, actually that's not true of one incident in grade school - but I'm not sorry about that one at all; I'm only prepared to walk away from the same jackass so many times. Yeah, I have all the right to talk about class - I have enough class to know that repeating crass statements isn't suddenly not crass because some non-reflective dim-bulb said it in mixed company. If I'm being crass, I at least have the decency to know that I'm being crass and not feign innocence and naivete. That's something I like about me. If someone called you a name and you accepted it as a compliment would you still feel the need to kick their ass. Just asking 'cause you seem to be the only one bothered by the name. I'm guessing, when no one's around, it probably gives marvin a little satisfied grin. Whatever, keep vigilantly patrolling the borders of your conscience for perceived slights and we'll keep talking about football.

walshfan
Actualy Im not too impressed about who's ass you can kick over the internet!!As far as Marvin Lewis goes, people can call him anything they want. In football terms he's brought respectability back to Cincinnati very quickly and if that means he walks on water now so be it.. Black Jesus is the nickname allot of fans call him and I see nothing wrong with it... Its rather entertaining..

Mr. Humper and I have corresponded, and I now feel it is not personal towards any one here. I'm good to go on that, but let's keep it as unthreatening as we can. How amusing. That's a harsh and carping selection of a definition for "critic". I guess I'm a fan in the sense of being an enthusiast, but unlike some others, the synonyms "zealot" and "groupie" don't apply to me. Now, a critic is also merely, someone who finds fault with or disapproves of something, so from time to time I guess I am a critic. What thinking person isn't? On the other hand, I've expressed many sweet and lovely sentiments about the virtues of the Bengals and individual players. So, I like to think that I'm critical in the sense of "involving analysis and assessment," evaluating both the good and the bad.Now the whole tendency question does have merit where the city of Cincinnati and it's general surroundings and culture are concerned. I do tend to be disapproving of the general cultural mix in Cincinnati. I root for the Bengals because, being close at hand, they're easier to keep up with, not because they represent this backwater. Anyway, no, Marvin Lewis is not "MY" beloved Marvin Lewis. He's doing a good job as a football coach, and that's all well and good. I respect him and wish him success, but I don't love him. I don't even know the guy. Sheez. I'm not duty bound to hate Corey Dillon. He's just another guy trying to deal with his demons and do what he does. It's not a zero-sum game anyway. What's good for Dillon isn't going to detract from what's good for the Bengals. I do enjoy yanking you guys' chains though. But I guess I do tend to overreact to the provincial and parochial spewings of the local gentry. I should work on that. I suppose it would also amuse you and give you fodder for more calumny to know that my name is actually Leon.

I've oftened wondered what prompts some Bengal fans to simply ignore Dillon's past history of outbursts and the incredibly negative impact his type of behavior can have on a roster. C'mon, missing the guys talent is one thing, but ignoring the angry elephant standing in the living room is another. At the risk of being taken out on the playground and Thumped grade school style, is it possible that Corey Dillon represents a sympathetic figure whose boorish past behavior is more easily embraced by a minority of fans who wouldn't mind a little change of scenery themselves? Fans who weigh Dillon's antics and think to themselves..."I understand that guy better than most. In fact, I wish I could talk my way out of this backwater existence just like Dillon did."
