bengalboomer7
Interesting, oldschooler. What would be cool if you keep ahold of that and after free agency is over we can look at who went where, for how much, and especially who the Bengals keep and pick up. Of course, with all this Shaun Rogers crap I'm not sure if initial numbers mean anything with all the goofy incentives they can put in there(how is a DT gonna play 95%of special team plays)
oldschooler
Notice TJ Houshmandzadeh didn`t make that list ? I know this is a list made up by Sporting News. But hopefully it is a sign of things to come.Hopefully TJ isn`t able to command much money. I would like for the Bengals to keep him.But he isn`t the PLAYMAKER the Bengals NEED.He IS a good possesion receiver that had a career year.He had a year comparable to Jermaine Wiggins of the Vikings. And Randy McMichael of the Dolphins. TJ did have a few more yards than them. But he had the same amount of catches with the same amount of TD`s.I just hope the Bengals don`t pay TJ like a #2 WR.The money that would be spent on him could be used for Free AgentsAND a WR draft pick that actually has more speed than a TE or Keyshawn Jonhson !!!! He weighs 260 That`s what I was saying about TJ not being the playmaker the Bengals NEED.He had a good year...but he only had 4 TD`s.He had the same amount of catches as 2 TE`s (Wiggins & McMichael)and the same amount of TD`s !! WHO DEY AGAIN?
I think TJ was overlooked. Not that I want him to demand a hugh amount of $$$ but come on look at some of those jokers on the bottom of the list.

Not that I want him to demand a hugh amount of $$$ but come on look at some of those jokers on the bottom of the list. I disagree, TJ hit his stride mid-way through the season and that usually doesn't automatically command big-time attention -- at least a full season's worth is probably a good reference for declaring a player a top FA. IMHOI think in TJ's case, we're just very biased. Looking out in, take note if you remove Chad's numbers, you have only one receiver who put up anything close (3rd place had 31 grabs). Which could be a result of over-coverage on Chad.I'm not taking anything away from TJ, he had a great season for him. But I also can understand the hesitation on putting him on some top 99 FA list. I think TJ will draw serious interest in FA if we don't lock him up. The Giants have already said he is on their list, and Peter King keeps trying to give TJ to Baltimore. Make no mistake, the league knows his value. TSN clearly overlooked him.

The Giants have already said he is on their list, and Peter King keeps trying to give TJ to Baltimore. Make no mistake, the league knows his value. TSN clearly overlooked him.Well, looking on the list, there lacks anything substantial from the position as a whole. Other than Plaxico Burress, there are five other WRs relegated to the #2 slot as best, which prompts the following:If there is a lack of WR talent in the NFL during this year's FA period, why then would TJ be off the list of 6 total WR's -- one restricted? Perhaps, most teams still have their WR corp therefore won't venture into the FA market for top-tier WRs and will NOT give TJ a payday; therefore stays in Cincinnati. ORThe lack of decent WR free-agents raises the stock of UFA this season prompting a lot of over-payment to the 80's. The only way I see TJ getting a big contract is based off a serious lack of available UFA talent; and if that's the case, and he finds greener pastures, then bah-bye -- we'll have Warrick (hopefully) anyway.I still think TJ is a mil a season WR until he proves consistency, and stays away from the injury bug. 2004 was nice, but will it continue? That's the question that'll bug suitors for TJ such as the Giants and Ravens.
R-U-D-I
I concur, I love the year he had, but I do not want to overpay a guy I was pleading with them to cut back in camp. Same opinion I have with my namesake, if he'll come back for a reasonable price then great, if not - c ya!
HairOnFire
Before opening this thread I would have bet all the money in my wallet that Rich Braham wouldn't be the 20th ranked free agent on that list. Awww, who am I kidding...I would have also bet my house.

TubThumper
It's just as well that TJ's being overlooked, 'cause it keeps his price down, but TJ is a player. Like someone said, he hit his stride in mid-season, so he's just coming out - he also had a year out with injury and has had to learn to care for his body better. There are a lot of guys who put up numbers but have the Tin-Man's heart. This guy is athletic enough to make plays and has enough heart to make them at critical times and after taking kill-shots from people. I don't know if he's a number 2 or not, but he's a warrior, and that's what it's all about.
bengalboomer7
I'll tell yopu what made me love TJ. I can't remeber if it was the New Englad game or the Buffalo game(I think new England) But Kitna threw one of those wobblers with no nustard on them to Tj across the middle and TJ got"JACKED UP" and still held on to the ball. Then, there were a couple of other games where the guy just got killed over and over and even was real slow to get up a few times(might have been his big170 yd day) and just kept on making plays. That is a football player!!

Kirkendall
I'll tell yopu what made me love TJ. Me? It was the "Greatest Catch of the Season" from the Marvins -- the catch against New York Giants to extend a drive on 4th down? Simply put; amazing.i think 1mil/yr is a reasonable amnt to pay him.Yea me too. But let's keep in mind we'll probably give him a low base salary and high on bonuses and incentives. 80 catches in one season, extra $.5 mil10 touchdowns in one season, extra millionY'all get the point. bengalboomer7
I likr that Kirk, send out a good contract with "somewhat" slightly unreasonable accomplishments, and end up paying him $800,000 a year. If he wants the big bucks, make him put up Chad-like numbers!
chrishcovga
You know what's so funny about our offseason....? We're in a position to sign hefty money to our key free agents when in actuality we'll be asking them to do less for our offense in '05.1. Rudi comes back at whatever money, but with a Healthy Chris Perry ( God forbid he gets hurt AGAIN !!! ) Rudi's carries will go down to about 250 while Perry could see half that amount !2. T.J. signs for whatever amount of money, but Peter Warrick can do more for our offense in reverses, as a slot receiver on 3rd downs, and especially for the Return game ! - I fully expect Chad's numbers to go up again next season, with P-Dub coming in second with T.J. and K-Dub vying for 3rd and 4th respectively. - And if We do land a guy like Mike Williams or Troy Williamson with our 1st pick, then Peter or T.J. most likely won't even be back.. jditty47
exactly. we dont need rudi. tj ill take as a 3rd instead of kwash, hes more reliable once he gets in rhythm. at the beginning of the season tj did absolutely nothing. MoellerWhoDey
My free agency shopping list:1) Shaun Alexander- The stud running back that will lead the Bengals to the Super Bowl2) John Abraham- A stud DE not only puts massive pressure on the QB himself but also loosens Justin Smith up to be the great player he is.3) Bubba Franks- Wow how great what it be to have a nice TE for Carson to dump the ball off to. Bubba would make the whole recieving corps better4) Rudi Johnson- Of course this is only if the Bengals can't sign Alexander5) T.J.- He isn't too important to this offense but it would be great to resign him
bengalboomer7
I read on another site where Abraham is looking for a huge payday. Another thing I thought was interesting, sources(that's like saying they said, who the hell is they) around the league are saying that his knee is not that bad and he's sitting out so he doesn't risk that big payday that was coming. If we want him you better hope Marvin doesn't see that
