oldschooler
Three Bengals head to Pro Bowl12/22/2004 - 12-22-04, 12:15 p.m. BY GEOFF HOBSON Maybe the national perception of the Bengals is changing. For the first time since the playoff season of 1990, they had three players voted to the Pro Bowl when right tackle Willie Anderson, wide receiver Chad Johnson, and cornerback Tory James were named Wednesday. The entire AFC and NFC rosters are to be announced later Wednesday. Anderson and Johnson became the first Bengals to go to back-to-back Pro Bowls since running back Corey Dillon in 1999-2001, and James becomes the first Cincinnati defensive player to go to Hawaii since cornerback Ashley Ambrose in 1996. Anderson, 29, in his ninth season and the senior Bengal with 140 games, earned his second berth despite battling torn cartilage in his knee for much of the season. He anchored an offensive line that has helped put running back Rudi Johnson on the verge of becoming the club’s first 1,500-yard rusher and protected first-year quarterback Carson Palmer in his break-out three game stretch that featured a 24-point fourth quarter in the Dec. 5 victory in Baltimore. Chad Johnson, 26, also got his second nod, joining Isaac Curtis (four), Cris Collinsworth (three) and Carl Pickens (two) as Bengals wide receivers with multiple Pro Bowls. Last year’s AFC receiving leader with 1,355, Johnson trails Tennessee’s Drew Bennett by 10 yards in this year’s race, 1,171-1,161 with two games left in a season he is on pace to finish with 1,326. His 82 catches trail only Tennessee’s Derrick Mason with 88 in the AFC. James, 31, the nine-year veteran who played in Denver and Oakland before arriving in Cincinnati as a free agent in 2003, earned his first Pro Bowl with seven interceptions, one off the NFL lead of Baltimore safety Ed Reed. Ambrose, another free-agent corner, also had eight in 1996. James still has a shot at becoming the first Bengal to get 10 interceptions in a season.http://www.bengals.com/

oldschooler
Tory James? what a joke.Don`t be so excited. He is 2nd in the NFL in INT`s and he is tied for 6th on the Bengals in tackles with 54. Why is that a joke ?
Bobcat Bengal
Oh boy, Tibor's on my favorite site spreading his christmas cheer.Yo, the resident pessimist position is filled already.
denverbengal
Tory James? what a joke.Don`t be so excited. He is 2nd in the NFL in INT`s and he is tied for 6th on the Bengals in tackles with 54. Why is that a joke ? I have to admit, I find this a little surprising too, to say the least. I don't think Tory's the best Bengal CB let alone one of the best in the AFC. I'm not going to argue against his selection though. Any Bengal making the pro-bowl is a good thing. jditty47
he deserves it. he led the league all season till like last week in INT's and no ones been throwing on him deep really. Rudi does not deserve to go. I could name at least 5 more deserving back in the AFC.

How can a guy with 36 tackles and 1 Int even make it? I mean how did Dunta Robinson from the Texans not make it? 76 tackles and 6 Int. That is why the Probowl is one of the worst all star games in pro sports because it is base on popularity and not on statisitcs.
CTBengalsFan
People either go by who they assume should be in it (eg Ray Lewis starting over Farrior, McAlister and Bailey), or they just look at the stats shown on the voting thing (eg Tory James)
turningpoint
Anyways just letting everyone know, I don;t think Willie anderson will be making the trip this year, due to the fact that he is set to have knew surgery in 2 days, and it take 2 months to recover. jjakq27
I read today that Willie is planning on playing in Hawaii. He said he is having a cleanout on Tuesday and will be able to play in 6 weeks unless it is more serious.

Worst case scenario, Willie will go and not play. It's an honor to get to be there and hang out with the others. He won't pass that up, even if he is on crutches.
