Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Marvin lewis is suppose to be a defensive guru......Wtf???? Show me somethin.Their better...But the defense looks liek s**t.....???? Watchu think? Quote
skyline Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 They're young. You have to expect them to be a little up and down. You have to be happy with how the rookies are progressing this year...definitely gives fans hope for the future. Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 Db's and lb's arent that young...Only some of them. I think thtat nate webster being out hurts them, but i think marvin lewis needs to be more involved in the defense. Quote

Do you have your eyes closed?Keiwan Ratliff and Madieu Willams...both DBs...both getting a lot of playing timeLandon Johnson is our starting middle linebacker...Then on the d-line we have Langston Moore and Geathers playing a decent amount. Also making appearances are Larry Stevens, Caleb Miller, and I'm sure I'm missing some folks here. Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 ...Hmmm do u have ur eyes close??? Week by week the other team moves the ball on us whenever they want.....Thank god for the offense....Tell me one game this season when the bengals defense has shut someboy down.....Dont get me wrong ive been a bengals fan my whole life...But i want a tougher defense..... Quote
semiotter Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 They look pretty young to me...And I think they did a good job today in a very hard place to win today. They made the big stops when we needed it. Refs hurt us a couple of times, like on the last drive BALT. got the field goal on. Any time you can outscore the other team your "D" did good enough... Quote
CJBestInAFC Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 How about Miami? They shut them down. Quote
chrishcovga Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Right now I wouldn't even say Cincy' is built to shut down any team. As for Pieces missing, go back to what Marvin Lewis said when he first took over this team. " We're missing about 5-6 players from being a Playoff caliber team. " Well It's safe to say that after Marvin's Year and 1/2 being here, we're probably down to about 3 missing pieces.1. DT2. LB3. CB/FSI smell a draft conversation coming on.... Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 What you mean bout miami....why dont u jus say ''what about ou?''Everyone shuts out miami....N today the bengals did make some nice stops at the end of the game...BUT> They realllllllllly sucked first half...They need to improve....Ur crazy if u think their doin well. Quote
volcom69 Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 the ravens scored one offensive touchdown on us the rest were feild goals and a defesive touchdown. So i wouldnt say the defense was horrible. Kyle Boller didnt throw for 200 yards he didnt have a touchdown he threw an interception. Hey we can give up yards but i dont want touchdowns, if it wasnt for their defensive touchdown there score would of been different. So im going to say with the young guys in there they did a good job today in not letting them score TDs. Quote
semiotter Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Man just look at the future guys with the pieces chrish was talking about oh boy!But im telling you the way theyre playing they look better each week, what is it 4 wins out of the last 5, two of them on the road. And we had the Steelers beat. And rookies are having alot to do with it. :player: Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 chrishcovga ...I strongly agree.....They need to look for all three of the postions that u listed....simmons is strong....So is webster....I wouldnt even worry bout the offense come to draft time. The Defensive backfield is an improvement, but they still play soft....They need to stick to their men like glue.... Quote
semiotter Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 The 1st half???????? what they gave up 6 pts. two field goals. thats not to bad is it?? Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 I agree they only scored 6 pts....But a team like the vikings would have scored 28 at the least....They had back to back first downs...how many did the ravens punt in the first half??? Anytime they wanted to pass to heap...He was open. I want a stronger defense....That would make a better bengal team, i not only want to go to the playoffs i want to make it out of the first round...And ur crazy if u dont agree. Quote
Tiger Stripes Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 how about washington we shut them down. hey you did say name somebody... Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 The Bengals have pulled out wins against #1 defenses all year. If you can do that, you can go deep into the playoffs. All you need is a wild card! Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 We have been really lucky winnin cuz of palmer and his amazin wr's, think if we had a better defense then we would win easier... Quote
bengalsfan33 Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Scoring 27 points on the Ravens defense is freakin awesome! We just need to get our defense to get together... Quote
semiotter Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Your right RUDI04 but tell me a NFL team that doesnt want a better defense. Look at INDY, PHILLY, ETC. good teams but there defense could be better..How far you think they will go in playoffs? Oh yeah ,good topic. Quote
Bobcat Bengal Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 What you mean bout miami....why dont u jus say ''what about ou?'' OU?You MUST be a Bobcat.... Quote
oldschooler Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 They shut down Miami, Washington, Steelers, and the Broncos. Quote
HoosierCat Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 There's no doubt that the defense still needs a lot of work. But there's also no doubt that it's headed in the right direction. And we have a ton of young guys -- some of whom aren't playing like young guys -- who are making plays. And we've got a lot of talent sitting on IR (Webster, Weathersby, Abdullah, Askew, Brooks). We're gonna get there, I'm confident of that. Quote
Rudy!04 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 How powerful do u think our offense will be when peter warrick comes back from injury? Quote
schweinhart Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Onca again Bengals D laid down for nearly 200 yds. on ground.Yet once again they showed some playmaking ability when it counted and kept Ravens O between the 20s.Defensive plays of the game IMO were K2 stone cold nailing Heap at 2 yd line to force 1st TurdBird FG. That and Madieu INT., Madieu knocking the living slop out of K Johnson to break up a pass into Bengals territory, Deltha O'Neal on CB blitz to drill Boller, and line surge to stuff Boller on QB sneak on 3rd and 8 inches. Can't wait for Bengals run D vs. Corey "I am the most misunderstand athlete in the 21st century" Dillon.
