CJBestInAFC
I thought the game was really good game to watch. Very exciting and close the entire game. I want to say the D has been playing much better, and there are lot of playmakers emerging especially on D. They held Ward to 3 catches for 13 yards. M. Williams is the man. He is going to be a great pro, and seems to be getting better every game. I thought Ratliff, Landon Johnson and both DEs played great. I though it was important after Carson Palmer threw the Int. he came back on the next drive and was 4 for 4 on a 70 something drive for a td. What happened to the running game in the second half. I don't know why they didn't make an adjustment in the second half when the Steelers adjusted. SP teams was really pathetic this game. But, we should've had a lot more sacks today then we did, and some of those missed sacks turned into big plays for the Steelers. But overall the defense is improving greatly. For some reason we just stopped running the ball in the second half. We got in a lot of 3rd and long situations which killed us.Our special teams really needs help. Field position today absolutly killed us. I've never agreed with fair catching a punt inside the 10 yard line. Just let it go, 95% of the time it will go into the endzone.
BengalszoneBilly
Positives to the Bengals vs. Steelers game? Well how about that even though Cincinnati lost by only 5 whole points to the alleged best team in football, ESPN's Chris Berman has not reverted to referring to them as the "Bungals!"He even talked about how the Cincy defense punished Big Ben like he hasn't been punished before in any other game he has played in yet! I never thought I'd live to see the Bengals defense outshine it's offense, but that has been the case the last two games. The running attack completely disappears, and then the opposition just looks for the pass, which ol' Brat loves to accomodate with! Is it the O-line? Is it Rudi? I dunno. jditty47
i think we need to get rid of rudi to find out about our oline
Spuncken
Too bad our first round pick is a bust. Would be nice to see him replace Rudi for a game to see if we can get the running game going.
Kirkendall
Too bad our first round pick is a bust. Injury. I'm really disappointed in Perry, but history will tell if he'll be punished with the bust label. He'll be our feature back next season anyway... ShulaSteakhouse
Is it the O-line? Is it Rudi? I dunno.Uh, how about the NFL's #1 ranked defense maybe? Don't let the fact Rudi had the best day against them of any RB this season cloud one's thinking either...You guys were spoiled by Dillon for too long. Rudi's a top 10 RB - those guys just don't grow on trees. He also needs at least some room to run - it's as if no one notices that he has to fight tooth and nail for every yard he gets - not that he has been all that sharp this year at times, but he simply doesn't have the luxury of having holes open up like he did last year. Teams are putting 8 in the box against them every single game and making Palmer beat them. The Bengals play in the toughest defensive division in the league and it'll probably be that way for a while...offensively boring...Perry's never going to be a feature back in the NFL btw I don't think. The_Next_Big_Thing
It's not Rudi, I mean the man is leading the league in breaking tackles, which means he's working it even when he gets grabbed. He's #11 in the league in rushing yardage, and many games this season the Oline has been sad. What confuses me is that before the season started, I thought we had a damned good line. Are they failing because of injuries they are playing through or do we need to go back to the draft? Positives? Duane Clemons - When did this guy turn into a monster? #7 in the AFC in sacks from Clemons? Playing inside and out on the dline? Justin Smith - Starting to produce as teams have to worry about ClemonsIn fact, our defensive line looks to be much improved since Tony Williams was finished for the season. Perhaps instead of being mad at Shannahan's dirty team we should be thanking them.Secondary play - Deltha O'neal being inactive scared me, but Ratliff was torn up early in the game but settled down and did a good job. With James, O'Neal, Kaesvaharn and Williams playing so well, and Herring and Beckett going to be back next season, I think our secondary is really going to start shining. And that's without knowing if Brooks will be as good as we hope and assuming Weathersby never plays again. Cliff Russell - What a return! Too bad some idiot held and it had to come back. I want to see more of Russell and see if he's a keeper.CJ - WOW what a catch early on. Now if only there was more consistancy and more accuracy from Palmer.... bengalboomer7
I really hope we re-sign RUdi because i do think he can be the real deal. He's a good power runner which you almost have to have in our conference, and I've yet to see him get any kind of injury. for some reason he reminds me so much of Curtis Martin. Hopefully he can have that kind of career. The only way we don't sign him is if by some miracle the Seahawks don't franchise Alexander and he shows interest in coming home
jditty47
im tired of u ppl bashing perry when he hasnt done anythign to warrant it. He has an INJURY. U wanna start labeling Weathersby a bust too? give me a break.
The_Next_Big_Thing
im tired of u ppl bashing perry when he hasnt done anythign to warrant it. He has an INJURY. U wanna start labeling Weathersby a bust too? give me a break. Yes, Weathersby is a bust! Is it his fault he's a bust? By no means. Did we know he had the problem last year? Yes. Did we expect that he wouldn't be able to play this year? No, but we took the chance that he wouldn't recover from the gunshot wound. Well, it wasn't the gunshot wound, and I admire him for living and trying and for having a lot of potential that appears to be lost, but he IS A BUST.If Perry can't get healthy, he is a bust. jditty47
GIMP. U HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO BE LABELED A BUST. NEITHER HAS DONE ANYTHING TO BE LABELED A BUST TO THIS POINT. MY GOD i wanna just shake the s**t out of some of u sometimes. Once they leave the team, or show on the field that they cant manage, then they are a bust...not until then. Learn what a bust is before you over use the term. sheesh.
San Antonio Bengal
Amen. You don't get labeled a bust until you prove you are. Give the guy a chance.
The_Next_Big_Thing
If you get injured and can't even play a down ever, you ARE a bust. Zero stats is worse than 500 carries for 1 yard!Perry has to prove he can play in the league, and I'll wait to see if he can pull a McGahee before I declare him a bust. However, Weathersby is officially a busted draft pick. He never even played a down for us. If you can't play you are a bust.

Like I said earlier, it's not his fault, and he was a risk we took, but that withstanding, the potential for a steal turned into a bust. No one could have known he was going to be injured when we drafted him. It woud be compltelty different if he played this season and he played bad. you cannot say Perry is a bust yet.If he comes back and has a monster year next year...will you still think he was a bust? He is going to try and come back...and I hope to God he makes it.This city and team could use a "feel good" story after all of thebad history it has had over the past 10 years. Perry is expected to play this next game. And he has stats too ...just not many.2 carries for 1 yard. And 3 catches for 33 yards.Give him a chance to be healthy before you label him ANYTHING. http://www.nfl.com/teams/stats/CIN/2004/regular

BengalNation1281
Good things about the game:1. The Bengals defense was amazing. I couldn't believe that we got that kind of pressure on Big Ben, and the 7 sacks were things of beauty. I have waited for a game like that from Duane and Justin all year, and they had it against the best team in the NFL. I can't say enough about the defense yesterday.2. Palmer in the first half: one mistake, two beautiful touchdown passes. I could have done without the safety in the second half, though. Palmer is indeed a work in progress, but he is getting much better as the season goes on, and I am almost ready to eat my words.3. Chad Johnson is just a football god. No explanation needed.4. Kept the best team in the NFL on their heels for 3/4 of a close football game. Other than a win, that's the most I could have asked for.I am not disappointed about yesterday...4-6 may not be pretty, but we are getting better, and we can still turn it around. I'm not predicting a playoff run, but I could see 8-8 or possibly 9-7 if we continue to play this well. WHO DEY!BN1281
