Game balls

My game ball goes to the defense, specifically all the rookies. It's nice to see the Marvin philosophy start to come into focus. There's still plenty of work left to do, but the defense shut down Washington for ~55 minutes which allowed the offense to work. It was just awesome having another good defensive showing (no let down) after last week.

Let's not forget the o-line, which did a great job of both protecting Palmer and opening holes for Rudi against the top-ranked D!

Absolutely. They've played (the o-line), in the past two weeks, like we expected them to play at the onset of the season.

Seemed like a boatload of dropped INTs. Justin had one too. Still, the D swarmed and the pressure was on the QBs.

Clemons dropped one too.

My game ball goes to Clemons. Not only was he in the QBs grill all day, but he also managed to break up a pass (and nearly get an INT), and play well against the run too.

My second game ball goes to Tory and Deltha. If Tory doesn't make the pro bowl, there's a problem. He's leading the league in INTs and is covering well too. When was the last time we had a secondary playing like this?

My third game ball goes to Chad Johnson, and only because I've never laughed so hard as last night watching "Chad's Corner" when he said yes, we can beat Pittsburgh, we just need crowd participation. If you missed this last night, you missed a good one. He said we needed a sell out, was told we have one, and then responded with "good, now everyone donate $1 to the pot, and he'll give us a good celebration. With $1 per person he can pay his fine". It was funny.

My game balls:

The Offensive Line, for allowing Palmer time to throw and giving Rudi a 100-yard day.

The entire defense, with the focus being on Madieu, Landon Johnson, Langston Moore and Robert Geathers (the young guys who are coming through)

Carson Palmer: this game was more impressive to me than the Dallas game, in that he threw the ball accurately all day and didn't freak out when he threw the interceptions. This was the game where he really looked like he could be something special...poised under pressure, confident, throwing lasers, not letting the early mistakes get to him. I would rather see him make a mistake and respond the way that he did against a tough defense than see him not make any mistakes against a sub-par defense. This was his best game so far this year.

I'm not ready to admit that I'm wrong yet, but I'm getting there.
