Only Carson Palmer Discussion for Dallas Game

I think he played a smart game, no real mistakes made some big passes and that TD at the end was a nice cap to the day, in the redzone no less. It helped that the D nearly pitched a shut out That's just the kinda play Palmer needs to keep the pressure off of him. He won't be getting that every week, but he showed that when the D play then he can do what it takes.

Great game for the whole team. IMO, the biggest improvement was the number of penalties. We actually gave ourselves a chance to make some plays. And great play by Palmer the whole game. It was also great to see how excited Kitna was after that long touchdown pass... we're really lucky to have a guy like him that doesn't make a big deal about losin his job to Palmer.

I am still mystified at the lack of production from Rudi. It would greatly lessen the load for Carson if Johnson were more effective than getting 2-3 yards per carry. Anyways...good game Carson.

I gotta disagree. I have been on his case, and now I have to eat massive crow about Rudi. Not only did he come through to help seal the victory late, but he was a threat in the receiving game as well, something he has not been to date. Props to the man, he did great. :player:

My one problem with Palmer were the game killing two minute drill f**k ups he had previously. Like I stated before, I like the guy. Today was a great example of his potential and capability. He made smart decisions and played with composure.

Good Job Carson.

Tennesse is a great example of running. Back with Eddie George, McNair played well and the team annually won. Without George and with more stat friendly Chris Brown, McNair started off incredibly bad and now he's out, and the Titans are all but out of the playoffs.

Stats are overrated at the RB position. It's the play of the RB (gaining 1st downs on 1 yard 3rd down runs, blocking, or 3-4 yards on first down) that perfectly reflects the attitude of the entire offense. In this case, Rudi is as much to credit for sealing the victory.

It's hard to run the ball when you don't get consistent Offensive line play. For Example, against Tennessee, Rudi had to work for EVERY yard he gained! He had no blocking at all.

I am a bit surprised at the number of drops on the play-by-play.

I did not see the game...Spent day at Home Depot and Lowe's..friking kitchen remodel.....but I digress.

It looked like there was alot of dump-dink passes, AND quite a few drops. Were these poor passes or just a "bad hands" day. Also, the 4 field goals means the red-zone production is nowhere. I hate to look at the win and sigh, thinking, well if this was a decent opponent it might not have been so explicit a win. Vinny must have forgotten his centum silver.

I also heard Chad was crying and whining for some reason. ugh.

It semed like the line did well. Hooray!

Deltha, Tory, and Madieu had int's. Way to go!

A win is a win. and we are 3-5...next up is danny snyder's hobby club.

BengalBax,

kevnz has sent you this email from http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php.

PALMER RULES!

YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE!

Trust me Kev, I am as glad as you are that he FINALLY played a great game. Now the goal is to keep Chad from crucifying him. I was at the game, 3rd row back behind the goal posts and Chad looked mad as H3LL when Palmer missed him on that underthrown pass and was frustrated all day when he was open (once in the endzone) and was ignored. Owens/Garcia reborn? Maybe

Either way, I am finally glad the kid didn't throw a pick for once.

I think I talked more Palmer smack this week than I had in any week before, and while I am not ready to proclaim him the QB godsend that most others are, I was definitely impressed and very proud of Palmer and the job that the entire offense did this week.

The O-Line stepped up and allowed Palmer more time, and he made the most of it. The pass he threw to Schobel was beautiful, and the touchdown run was impressive. His stats were good, he made very few mistakes, no turnovers...what more could any of us ask for at this point?

So I applaud Palmer and hope that he can continue to make me eat my words. It would honestly make me extremely happy if he continued to prove me wrong.

The only thing that I had a beef with yesterday: the play-calling is atrocious. Calling for a screen pass on every third-and-long got really old really fast.

Kudos to Carson.

Oh, and BTW, Robert Geathers, Madieu Williams, Tory James, and Deltha O'Neal are stone-cold pimps.

My Focus was on the Election last Week and I really didn't think much about Football.

So some of what I post here may be old news.....

Amazing how good Palmer looks when our defense plays well and we can run the football a little bit.
The difference between Big Ben and Palmer is:

In Pittsburgh, the cavalry always comes for Roethlisberger.

In Cincinnati, Palmer is the cavalry.

The Bengals need to get to where they can open up the playbook for Palmer - roll-out's, play fakes, and a QB taking chances with audibles when he recognizes something from experience.

This seems like a very stripped-down/basic offense still, although they changed it up in the 2nd half some.

Chad almost willed Palmer on in the 4th quarter, Palmer purposely sought him out on that next drive after he underthrew him - Chad should give him some props for that. But it also shows you what those two are capable of if Palmer has some more faith in his ability to get open by eyeing him more often. But he also needs the time to throw and Chad has to realize that and not show him up for God's sakes.

Ok I found the Link for this from a post by JoiseyCat.

Daugherty

He will get better. He's too good not to.

Palmer has already shown he can take a hit and stand in the pocket.

He has already shown he can read a defense and handle a blitz.

The golden gun is obvious.

Let THAT SINK IN .....

Explain the Bengals' last drive without invoking Palmer's name.

Starting at his 33 with 2:07 left and no timeouts, Palmer completed 5 of 8 passes for 58 yards.

Two of the misses were clock-stopping spikes.

Palmer looked like a 10-year pro.

People seem to forget that Palmer didn't just have the Ball HANDED to him on the 9 yard-line.

He ran a very nice 2 minute drill to get in position for a chance at a TD.

Until he didn't.

On second down from the 9, he rolled right and held the ball too long, looking for a home run.

He should have taken a strike and focused on the next pitch.

Instead, before Palmer could throw the ball away, Haynesworth hit him.

Game, set, frustration.

He held the ball too long ?

Just when Should he have thrown it ?

I pulled out the game tape and re-ran the play 10-12 times.

The Problem on the play was that Haynesworth BEAT Steinbach.

Haynesworth was FREE and BEHIND Palmer and Palmer didn't even know it.

Haynesworth Blind sided Palmer and STRIPPED the Ball.

There was no chance to throw the ball away...

Palmer was able to get a grip on the ball with his left hand after it was Stripped Loose.

What he "may" have been able to do is pull it in with his left hand and Hold on to it.

But the way that Haynesworth JERKED his legs out from under him he may have fumbled anyway.

I Hated the way that game ended as much as anybody....

Shoot I was already thinking of maybe going for 2 points after the TD.

But the truth is, once Haynesworth got Free Behind Palmer the Best that could have happened was a sack and that would have meant that we only would have gotten one more play anyway.

It was Pure SUCK for the game to end like that.

But I don't think you can put all the blame on Palmer.

Steinbach got Beat Bad and beat in a way that didn't give his QB much of a Chance at all.

And on the flip side Haynesworth made one Hell of a Good play.

He beat his man, was free right behind Palmer, stripped the ball and then made a Slam of a tackle.

Sometimes I think that we forget that the other guys "get paid" to play the game to....
