schweinhart
Apparently he signed as a rookie free agent at 290 lbs. So he's bulked up.Sat on the shelf for awhile, though, from Sept. 5. Would think he'd get a shot somewhere else before now.

schweinhart
Aug 18, 2004Houston ChronicleMartin gives defensive line a big boostThis time last year, Terrance Martin was an unheralded rookie free agent trying to crack the roster as a defensive lineman. His hunger was as big as his body, which is to say Martin was starving.Martin is a good bet to make the 53-man roster this year, but you'd never know it by watching his approach. His drive and desire seem to be just as strong as they were last year when his future was clouded with uncertainty. At 6-2 and 323 pounds, Martin gives the Texans the kind of large body they require on the defensive line in their 3-4 scheme. He can occupy multiple blockers, and as witnessed in last week's preseason opener against Dallas, he can overpower them.Martin had two tackles, two assists and a sack against the Cowboys. He brings versatility to the Texans because he can play nose tackle or either defensive end position. The Texans typically used a five-man rotation on the defensive line last season, and that likely will be the case in 2004.Jerry Deloach and Corey Sears are the top two backups on the defensive line behind starters Gary Walker, Seth Payne and Robaire Smith, but Martin is in the mix. With Payne and Walker coming off injuries, the Texans know the importance of depth. bengalboomer7
hell as bad as our run defense is maybe we really should start him. he's about 25 pounds heavier than our biggest lard ass, so let him eat up some space, at least he could do that!!!!! The_Next_Big_Thing
Why doesnt .com have this transaction or any info on this? It does, where do you think the information from this thread was from? There isn't a full article, because frankly, a guy who may or may not even play isn't worth writing about. kingwilly
From Benglas.com"Then, in true Bengals' '04 fashion, Martin ended up on the injury report after about his third snap of Wednesday's practice. He busted up his finger and is listed as questionable. . . "UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!Ho-Hum, just another day in the life of a Benglas die-hard fan. This reminds me of one of my favorite "Deep Thoguhts" by Jack Handey, it goes..."With every sunrise, there is new hope, a new beginning. And with every sunset...you blew it." Kirkendall
How does a defensive tackle get put on QUESTIONABLE for a "busted finger". One of two things come to mind, ( A ) wuss or ( B ) somethings wrong with the assessment of injuries on this team using a more (way too much) conservative approach. I played DL and there's no way I'd come out for a "busted finger" (yes, barefoot in the snow as well). I broke my foot one year and still took over 15 snaps before I went to the trainer and told her, "i think something might be wrong with my foot" This guy doesn't qualify... NOW testify! (not sure where that came from)
BengalszoneBilly
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! What's even more "unbelievable" is the Bengals are signing this free agent, and he has never played for the Redskins, or any of the other teams Marvin formerly coached with! He sounds like a monster with tons of potential, which makes me wonder why he wasn't already signed with another team and already playing! Why was he let go? WHY! WHY! WHY!! I must know WHY!! Sorry. It just sounds like one of those "too good to be true" situations! There must be a catch, like a stubborn reoccurring injury that never seems to heal, or something like that.I'll investigate this a little more. jditty47
well, he prolly cant plant his hand and get power off the ball, i played DE with a sprained thumb and it got me off the ball slow cuz of it. also he needs to learn the defense anyway...this is prolly just an excuse to give him another week to learn the playbook. HoosierCat
How does a defensive tackle get put on QUESTIONABLE for a "busted finger". It's just another case of listing anything and everything, IMHO. Heck, be happy, kirk, this is likely to be the closest thing to a lardass run-stuffer we're likely to see this year... Sounds logical considering Marvin and company know how hostile a majority of the Bengal fans are right now. It's just another case of listing anything and everything, IMHO. Heck, be happy, kirk, this is likely to be the closest thing to a lardass run-stuffer we're likely to see this year...Love the fat guys... One of my all-time favorites is Gilbert Brown. Man that guy defined defensive tackles -- if you get past the injuries part. That's why I love Madden (the real life version) so much because he talks about them a lot more than anyone else. (not sure where that came from) I "busted" a finger in a game playing DE, it was broken, went to the sidlines got it taped to another finger and played the rest of the game. Dr. YELLED at me after he saw the x-rays. Splinted, taped wrapped, and played the next Saturday! Course 25 yrs later, I can predict the rain with that finger I hope this guy does well, I'd love to see Eddie George get stuffed at the line this weekend. I've been hearing all week how George is going to run over the Bengals.. I Work near an obnoxious Cowboys fan. I work, live and grew up in SE Ky, and so did he. I give him a hard time for being a Cowboys fan having never left the state of Ky.
