Steel Legends Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Is this a forgone conclusion? The way the guy is playing is unreal for a rookie only 4 games into the season. He got hurt against Dallas and just ended up helping us win the game. He has to be the best story right now in the NFL! Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 See what kind of confidence having a reasonably decent defense backing you up does for a rookie QB? Big Ben is a keeper. Quote
Steel Legends Posted October 21, 2004 Author Report Posted October 21, 2004 I am surprised at how well the guy is doing. Maddox is a decent QB but this guy in just a few games has made everyone say, "Maddox who?" Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 "Maddox who?"You got Maddox, we got Kitna. Great backups/mentors for the young guns.By the way, Ben did okay against Dallas, but he didn't win it for you. That was done by the OTHER QB...Testaverde! His fumble practically gave it to you! Kirkendall Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Yes, he's the rookie of the year. Quote
jditty47 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 no hes not, theres alot of season left and pitt will be facing better defenses here on out. Quote
bengalsfan33 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 If he keeps playing like he has been, he should have no trouble winning the ROY. Quote
schweinhart Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Yeah, Big Ben looks great. A natural born QB.Outside shots for ROY could go to DJ Williams w/ Broncs and a couple WRs Roy Williams and Michael Clayton. But there's a lot of rooks playing large this year. Just none for the Bengals other than Madieu. Quote
Turi Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 Easy now people, it's week seven coming up. There's no doubt what Big Ben has done so far has been amazing. But rookie of the year? No way. He does however have a potentially bright future ahead of him. I'm so glad we picked him up (even though before the draft I was rooting for Rivers or D Hall, I had no idea he'd fall the 11th!!!). But there's still a long long way of him becoming the complete player. He's only reading half the field a play.Defenses are underestimating him - should be playing man to man when Roethlisberger rolls out.Played mostly losing teams so far this season. But he's showing excellent composure in the pocket and his ability to roll out has been oustanding and then to complete passes has been awesome. I love him, but realistically after the bye we go 5 and 3 with NE and Philly. Although if there was a good bet to put on finishing both of their runs I'm sure one or the other may be worthwhile. Bengal_Smoov Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 Big Ben will struggle for the remaining games, as DC's aren't going to underestimate him anymore. Roy Williams from Detriot will win the R.O.T.Y. Quote
