kingwilly
If he wants to get drunk, let him get drunk -- it's his choice as much as it is ours. I just hope the media doesn't keep this going and let it go by the end of the week. Hopefully. Sure, he can get drunk, its a free country. But what does that say to his professionalism and approach to the game...on top of it then he tries to drive home? Stupid and reckless.Justin, it was a BYE week, not an "I'll buy this week". The NFL and/or Bengals will fine him or suspend him. Next to that he's got a record, next to that he's got a negative public image. He did bad, he's getting punished for it. Now, let's move on. redsfan2
If he wants to get drunk, let him get drunk -- it's his choice as much as it is ours.Drunk? At 1.5? s**t I gotta be at 1.5 and it's barely 2 pm on a Tuesday. Smith's a p*ssy! I'm not real pleased when any of the team does something that makes them look bad, BUT ...... I can't really say too much about this one when I've done worse myself .. and on a motorcycle to boot. A lot of the rest of you have probably done similar or worse as well ..... " cast the first stone" and all that. In my own defense, I was young at the time too ..... hell I think I was only 40 or so at the time
kybengalsfan
Hey, now that I have thought about it for awhile, Smith's offense is kind of minor compared to Cocaine Jamal with the Crapbirds. Talk about a distraction to the team! Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of birds. I am sure that management is proud of Mr. Lewis, especially if he continues to produce on the field. I just hope the Judge has enough integrity to make him serve time during the season, not after. What other occupation could be given this consideration, outside of professional sports? BengalBax
Smith has been declining the last 3 years anyways. He wont be missed, Now lets get a DE who can rush the QB and play the run.
ShulaSteakhouse
If he wants to get drunk, let him get drunk -- it's his choice as much as it is ours.Reggie Rembert stopped in his car sound asleep on the Brent Spence Bridge was the worst. Blake got a free ride home from a cop when he should've got a DUI.Then there was the tragic story of Lewis Billups. I know a few others from the 90's who literally drank every single night. I seriously question the intelligence of someone of his public stature who would get in a car, ecspecially during the season, and try to drive home that drunk. Hopefully the intervention program and experience will get him back on track with his career and his life and he lays off the booze. You shouldn't destroy your body like that if you're a pro athlete making millions. I'm beginning to the think the Bengals are cursed and need some sort of huge voodoo ritual performed down on the riverfront to finally exorcise the demons. BengalBobNC
Smith has been declining the last 3 years anyways. He wont be missed, Now lets get a DE who can rush the QB and play the run.Yeah, that certainly seems to be true unless I'm missing some key stats or something. After holding out all through training camp when he was drafted he then had a great year, his only great year I think. Since then he seems to be good for only a few games a season. We desperately need a true pass rusher (or two or three) not to mention a run stuffing specialist (or two or three or four). If Justin (I got it right this time!) was a sack monster every week, most people would let this slide pretty quickly I think. Being a once-in-while playmaker, he's gonna hear about this for a while!
Kirkendall
We need someone that will compliment Justin. When you have junk d-line players, other than Smith, the entire offense focuses their attack against Smith hense the lack of stats. Put someone else on the line that the opposing offense is worried about, and I'll sure you Justin's career year.

Ed Copher said.Smith, who faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for the misdemeanor, was released on bond. Typically, first-time offenders are put on probation and ordered to attend an alcohol education course. He was scheduled for arraignment next Tuesday in Kettering Municipal Court. According to the police report, the deputy who pulled over Smith said that he smelled alcohol and that Smith had bloodshot eyes and a flushed face. ShulaSteakhouse
Tremain Mack! Yes, the most notorious Bengal alcoholic of them all how could I forget...along with Rembert and Billups and Blake and James Francis and James Brooks as local Bengal drunks. Surely there are others. Just add Justin to that list I guess.

kevnz
Y'all give it a rest. He wasn't drunk, he had a couple of beers and drove home a .15 isn't much, two maybe three beers in an hour will do that. Now it's stupid as hell to do, I ain't saying that. But it's not like he was tanked up. Dumb yes, drunk no.

EdwardG
Maybe 2 to 3 beers an hour would do that to a 15 year old girl, but not a 290 pound man. He was pounding.
Rudy299
2-3 beer in 1 hour WILL NOT put MOST anyone at 1.5 NO WAY NO HOW. Been there done that (was stupid). Lesson learned. Hopefully Justin will learn. While this is not a good thing, it may not be a bad thing for the Team. Maybe it will bring them together. In Marvin I trust. kybengalsfan
Josh: You have no idea of what you are talking about. At his weight it would have taken quite a bit to get him at that level. I'll give you an example. A few weeks ago I participated in a drinking study. I am 220 lbs, was on an empt stomach. It took ten beers for me to get up to a .097 after consuming for two hours. By comparison, he weights quite a bit more than me, soooooo he had a bunch. Remember also that the body eliminates about .015 per hour, or about one drink for a 160 man. In his case, he probably eliminates more. Additionally, if he had any food in his stomach (and most of those guys are never hungry) it would have slowed absorption quite a bit. Judging from your comments, it sounds as if you are working for the alcohol or food industry.

jjakq27
Maybe this will light a fire under JS's ass and motivate him a little bit more. A friend at work said he heard ML mention in an interview that Smith doesn't work as hard as he should at game preparation. I don't know if that is true but again, maybe this will jumpstart him a little.
