Chad Johnson
the guy makes me sick. We have Kelly Washington and we made him the #3 reciever????/ Why??? He drops way too many balls and I just dont know why we use him way more than Washington. Need some answers on this one.
Barbarian
Hmmmm.I was under the impression that TJ didn't have a bad 2 weeks of receiving. Some one correct me if I'm wrong here...

EdwardG
I thought he played well today too. He did have that one drop, but one drop doesn't make or break a game.

On the contrary, it can.I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, (you're a smart man, you've got the Johnny Cochran avatar, lol) but if that was for a first down with two minutes to go, then yeah, that woulda been crucial. You get my drift. kybengalsfan
Hey, give T.J. a break! He has been playing well this year. I hate so sound like the season is a bust, yet what we saw today was not good. As much as I like Palmer and his potential, I am having a lot of doubt about his ability to get things done in the clutch. He did against Miami, but you see what has happened at N.York and today. The Steeler's rookie is the one who looks experienced, poised, and confident. Question: do we have the character to come back and beat the Turds after the bye? ShulaSteakhouse
The Steelers' QB isn't missing Warrick, has a better LT who isn't hurt, and has a real defense on his side.I'm not sure Palmer's ready to win games on the road in the last two minutes every single week. His choking is Kitnaesque and we can only hope he grows out of it, or the offense learns to put teams away when they are able to (thanks Watson).TJ gets an illegal formation penalty early on also that killed a drive. I sure as hell hope Warrick, Levi, Beckett, Herring, Askew, KK, James, and all the other banged up players get healthy on the bye week and call it a new season. bengalsfan33
I think Housh has done a great job filling in for the injured Warrick. Last week he had like 8 catches for 110+ and this week he had 6 catches for 50+. I think we should consider him as our 3rd receiver.
BengalszoneBilly
I think Housh has done a great job filling in for the injured Warrick. I totally agree. And even T.O. drops passes from time to time, so don't hold that against him!
BengalBax
Hey, he's not the only one to do it! Joey Porter AND Pomeleau had Palmer's passes hit them right in the hands, and they dropped them to! What do you expect when you have a guy with such a cannon arm slinging missiles all over the field? The Brew Man
TJ had a huge drop yesterday but overall was fairly effective filling Warricks role. Washington isnt getting as many looks because of the routes he runs. Evidently hes having a hard time with that.
BengalBobNC
TJ is playing great! As a receiver and on special teams. The one pass I saw him drop was a little too far in front of him. I think he could've laid out for it, but I'm not sure if he saw it in time to react accordingly. But TJ is doing great!
BengalDave73
Wow, Im glad you guys are saying TJ has been playing well.I thought I was seeing things. I am by no means a TJ supporter but he has played well so far this season.Settle down Chad it will be ok man.
RedsFan75
The one I'm disgusted with is Tony Stewart! And here, I thought Tony McGee was old 'Iron Hands'.Does Stewart catch anything?
Barbarian
The one I'm disgusted with is Tony Stewart! And here, I thought Tony McGee was old 'Iron Hands'.Does Stewart catch anything? Why are you disgusted with Tony Stewart??? Dude, the guy is a 3rd tier player. He's a practice squad guy on any other team besides the Cardinals and Bungles. What I'm saying is this:YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.And all this time, I thought that Tony Stewart was a NeckCar driver. BengalszoneBilly
And all this time, I thought that Tony Stewart was a NeckCar driver. I bet the Nascar driver Tony Stewart could catch a pass from Palmer. He's used to seeing things come at him at 200 mph!
vettespd20
He is having a good year so far. He needs some work but a lot of people do right now, and he has improved a lot this year.
schweinhart
TJ Takes: Corvallis Gazette-TimesPlayers must take advantage of chancesFormer Oregon State receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, now in his fourth year with the Cincinnati Bengals, writes a weekly column on life in the NFL. Today he writes about getting a starting job because of another player's injury. *******************************************************************Nobody ever likes to get into the starting lineup because of injury.I want to get playing time because I earn it, not because a player went down. But, sometimes one player's misfortune can lead to a breakout season, or a standout career, for another player. The best example I can think of is how Brett Favre got his chance to show the Green Bay Packers he was a tremendous quarterback. Many years ago Don Majkowski was Green Bay's starter, he got hurt, Brett took over and a Hall-of-Fame career started.Currently the Bengals are faced with an injury situation that has directly affected me. Peter Warrick has battled knee and shin problems and he's been inactive for the past two games. His injury has allowed me to remind everyone of the player I am and as a result I have caught 13 balls in the last two games.Certainly we are a better team when P-Dub is playing. But he's not playing and the other receivers have got to step up. It's tough to see a good friend unable to play but my job is to catch passes and if P-Dub isn't there it is my job to replace him.I certainly do not wish injury on P-Dub or Chad (Johnson) but I've always said that if we're starting the best two receivers then I should start. Now I believe I'm showing everybody I can back up what I say about my abilities. When players get hurt the difficult thing is not to come back too soon. I remember last year when I battled the hamstring injury for the majority of the season and I wanted to get back to playing before I was 100 percent. Everybody who plays in the league is competitive and when you're faced with playing at 80 percent or waiting until you're 100 percent, I'll play at 80 percent. But you've go to make sure you aren't a liability to the team because of your health. The toughest thing to do is ask out of a game because everybody wants to play. But if you're not helping the team, you've got to got to the sideline and get healthy. As tough as that is it is your duty as an NFL player to do whatever it takes to help your team win. If that means sitting out a game and giving another guy your reps, that's what you have to do.Nobody wants to get the reputation as a selfish player and not asking out when you're hurt is a selfish thing.P-Dub gets an extra week to rest up because of the bye for us this week. He should be healthy when we play at Cleveland and when we can have Chad, P-Dub and me catching balls from Carson Palmer really takes the pressure off Rudi Johnson and the running game.
