kevnz
I haven't seen the video yet, but I did read on the site that even Brat admits that he gives up on the run too often, but he's promised his guys that they are gonna run the ball this year, and looking at the stats for the first two games I'd say he was right. jditty47
ya saw it...brat looks like a genius. the man has out-thunk (ya i said it - thunk) his opposition many of times. Just look back to last week's final drive. The play calling was outstanding. Some of you will try to talk s**t with "he called the same ***damn reverse 6 times and only ran it on a reverse once" yes he did. but 9 yards on the one time he did use it...obviously it worked alright and he knew they would be ready if he did it again. So what if we played conservative. Launching the ball up for grabs wont win us a ton of games vs great defenses like miami's.
ShulaSteakhouse
You don't know if he called all those plays, Palmer could've audibled or called them himself from a larger set of plays on his wrist for that situation.I like Brat for what he's done here certainly, but so far this year his offensive game plan has been pretty poor...he almost seemed to be admitting to his mistakes thus far. He's been way too conservative this year IMO and as he said hasn't used the run enough, and when they have it seems they're always those old slow developing plays instead of the straight ahead, quick-hitting dives and off-tackles that Rudi is made for....not that the blocking is helping him look any better. Bobcat Bengal
Well, its like he said....once the running game is established, there's a LOT more options on 2nd and 3rd downs, especially if we get Chris Perry into the mix...I think (obviously, nothing new here) he wants to use the run to set up the pass. Am I a genius or what?(And yeah, putting on glasses that accentuate your face, not take away from it, will boost your IQ by at least 20 points, perception wise anyways. That's why Brat looks like a genius.)
jditty47
do you guys remember last year? at the beginning of last year we couldnt run and brat took the blame for playcalling. as the season progressed so did his playcalling...the same will happen this year. Benzoo
He's provided much needed stability in that role. He seems to be calm, steadying influence and he doesn't seem to fancy himself as some kind of guru.Refreshing. I'm glad Marvin kept him around when he was hired. Hmmm--I've never heard of a Reverse being called by an AUDIBLE--that playbook MUST BE PRETTY DAMNED ADVANCED!!!
BengalszoneBilly
He's been way too conservative this year IMO If so, it was probably done with Carson in mind. I imagine the QB job is already a handful to manage for our newbie play caller. As his experience grows with each start under center I suspect that the play calling will open up as well. I would be shocked at this point in Carsons career to see Brat start calling plays any more unconventional than the reverse we saw against Miami. It also may have worked better if the Bengals didn't fake it a bunch of times before they actually went with it!The way I though you did it was you called a play like that early in the game, and then every so often during the game, set up a fake on the defense by making it look as though it's coming again! Much more effective if it's successful the FIRST time you run it!
Barbarian
Here we go again--in today's game, Rudi's averaging over 5+ yards a carry and Drunkowski has passed Palmer over 30+ times. Stoooooooopid!!!!!!!
