BengalBobNC
I'd like to offer a "tip of the hat" to Jon Kitna. He is a class act all the way. Kitna is a big reason why Carson played so well against the Jets and will continue to do so. One thing I noticed last year, no matter what the result of the drive was, Jon was on the sideline looking at pictures trying to find the edge, another way to score, or the correction to the mistake. Palmer was sitting right next to him every time I think. Did anyone else notice Kitna's enthusiastic reaction after Chad made that great TD catch from Carson? I saw the whole game at Jack Astor's in Greensboro and saw Jon going nuts after the play. After Coach Lewis named Carson the starter Jon could've demanded a trade, been a Corey Dillon sized distraction, or simply sat back and waited for his number to be called again. Instead of all that he is on the sidelines watching his prodigy go to work and helping him every step of the way.More reasons Carson looked like he has already played in the NFL is he has a great offense surrounding him, he's got a far superior QB coach (Ken Anderson: I loved you as a player, but not a coach.), and, of course, Marvin Lewis. But the point of this thread is: Thanks Jon...for last year AND this year! BengalBob
San Antonio Bengal
Kitna really is a class act. It's really refreshing to a professional athlete with his kind of attitude.
BengalszoneBilly
The Bengals are fortunate to have such a valuable commodity on the sidelines. A true team player, not to mention a perfect mentor for Cincy's young QB!
Kirkendall
Did anyone else notice on Carson's first TD pass, he pointed to the sky, vintage Kitna -- minus the kneeling on the ground with confession at the middle of the field. Scottishbengal
Is this the same Jon Kitna that fans were screaming to get rid of when he came into Cincinnati? The same Jon Kitna with no arm and not much to his game? The same Jon Kitna who threw as many interceptions as TD's?Don't get me wrong, I like Jon Kitna and think that he has qualities other than those on the football field. Guys like him are worth keeping around for just the affect he has on others - Palmer in this instance.I'm glad to see he's won a few people over with his professionalism. Now if only Mike Brown could do the same ...........
BengalBobNC
Is this the same Jon Kitna that fans were screaming to get rid of when he came into Cincinnati?YesThe same Jon Kitna with no arm and not much to his game? No. Kitna does not have a cannon, but he can throw. Remember the reasonably deep pass to Warrick in the Kansas City game? Most folks thought he couldn't even do that. The same Jon Kitna who threw as many interceptions as TD's?No again. Kitna threw 26 TDs and 15 INTs last year.Don't get me wrong, I like Jon Kitna and think that he has qualities other than those on the football field. Guys like him are worth keeping around for just the affect he has on others - Palmer in this instance.I didn't, I just thought I would clarify a few points. I liked Kitna and argued on another board that Kitna was the reason we were IN games last year when others were screaming for Matthews. Matthews??? Yeah...right. I stopped going to that board when I found Bengalszone.com. On this board we can all respectfully disagree without personal attacks. That other board..people called you a....well, nevermind...it was bad. Real bad.BengalBob

kevnz
One reason Kit was so excited after the long bomb to Chad was he called it from the sidelines....I wouldn't be half surprised to see Kit as a coach in the future. If God is on our side, he'll also flood the Great Lakes and sink Cleveland.. that should solve Ohio's job loss problem. I wouldn't be half surprised to see Kit as a coach in the future.I definitely think he could, but I'll bet the amount of current players to coaches will great reduce in the coming years because the money players make today allows them to retire much sooner at a much higher percentage. I could see Jon being a coach of some pee-wee league or something.. he seems like a guy that sticks with the community. Doesn't he live in West Chester now? Kit does live in Cinci now and probably won't move while his nephew is in school here (he's his guardian) Kitna has embraced Cincinnati and the Bengals since he signed with the team and has always placed the team first even during the LeBaue QB carousel from hell. Kitna is a trained teacher and he studies football and is a great leader, those are traits that would make a great coach. I would probably say he'd be more likely to coach at the high school level or even college in the area after he retires, or it's not beyond being offered a job with the team.
