Bobcat Bengal
You know, the whole time I thought 85inthehall was a Bengals fan! I thought he was rooting for Chad....
bengalboy
The D will be alot better with Simmons and O'Neil. Chad Johnson is awesome. Palmer has the presence of a seasoned vet.
Tiger Stripes
i think marvin is goin to address a few things this week and have this defense ready to go next week. what ever happened to that shut down D that played so well against the pats??? lamont_jordan_rules...
...nice game fellas......i gotta say palmer really impressed me......he came in and played with poise & determination ... i thought that the jets would have a couple more chances on mistakes by a qb making his first start but palmer seemed to make great decisions all game long ... with the only exception that late pick ... but the clock was ticking and he forced that one pass......all game long i kept yelling at the screen ... you're right there d come on and get that bastage ... every play except the one sack from abraham palmer was able to get the balls to your (great) wr's even with pressure in his face. while not quite as quick of a release as marino that is what he reminded me of ... just a great presence in the pocket & awareness of letting the ball go at the last possible second...... your defense looked pretty shaky though ... as is ours ... and i think that they will have to come together a little bit better in order to not make palmer have to be perfect in order to win... i agree with some of you who have been saying one game does not a season make (or words to that effect )... and it will be important for both our teams to wait a couple weeks before we can tell how far each of us can go......the one thing i know for sure is you guys have the most important piece to the puzzle in carson palmer ... he is the franchise qb that all teams search for in order to be a contender for the next decade......lewis seems like a leader who really has his head together & once the defense picks it up a little bit ... you guys should have a very promising team ... franchise qb ... great wr ... great rb... it was a good battle out there all day & you guys have nowhere to go but up......good luck the rest of the season ... l_j_r
BengalszoneBilly
i think marvin is goin to address a few things this week and have this defense ready to go next week. what ever happened to that shut down D that played so well against the pats??? I'm beginning to sincerely believe that the Bengals defense that looked so stout boarded the Jet with Dillon heading back to New England. Not physically of course! The whole defense was focused on stopping Dillon in his first return to Cincy, meaning that great performance was all a manifestation of the incentive to show Corey up, and hold him to minimal rushing yards! Now that Corey has been dealt with, playing defense isn't such personal an issue, and they fail to play as a unit. You guys may think I'm nuts, but it was a entirely different unit we saw in the Pats game!
HoosierCat
browns played very well today on defense. I do not see that continueing on the road or in the future. Lets just say i think the ravens horrible offense made the browns D look better than it actually is. Baltimore really, really, really missed Ogden yesterday. cincykent
The good news is that the Baltimore offense looked as bad as the Bengals defense. It looks like the division is up for grabs. The Jets may be a playoff team, so maybe it wasn't such a bad effort overall considering it was a road game. Let's see how they play the next two weeks at home.
TippCityRick
Finally able to get on. Good comments, all. I agree that Palmer did an excellent job passing the ball, but I have one ticky area for improvement. Edwards said that the Jets would be blitzing to stop the run and they did that effectively. Palmer did an ok job of getting us into plays that would expose their weaknesses, but didn't do it enough. This will come with experience. The Dline played as I thought they would . . . . horribly. But what was dissapointing was the lack of pursuit from our linebackers especially Webster. He was no where to be found (although I must add that Hardy wasn't exactly filling my screen either). Miller and Johnson played a bunch and they don't have the necessary experience to adjust to the blocking schemes shown by the Jets. Frazier must get all of these guys "coached up" to recognize tendencies and to recognize a shifting line by the second half of games. Regrettable.Anyway, it was fun and this isn't a deflating loss. Road wins are hard to come by in the league and the Jets showed why. That's an offense that will score in bunches all year. If the defense looks the same against the Fins Sunday, then we have something to worry about. Palmer will face a stiffer test Sunday, but he showed the poise that will help him cope with any adversity that comes his way.
kingwilly
D-Line Issue:Looking at our draft, taking a RB in the 1st round was a stretch though I hesitate to call it an error. Taking a 1st round D-Lineman that can contribute right away is pretty rare and scanning the draft and Sundays effort I did not see any 1st rounders from this year who made a D-Line impact. We missed all the decent D-Lineman in FA/trade opportunities:SappGardner (too injured to pass physical?)H. DouglasM. WileyOgunlye (sic?) - maybe a nice trade deal could have been doneetc. This gets me pissed. We had a chance to snag someone who could help the front and we balk....BUT we will entertain taking Chris Perry in the first round...Mother Trucker! I was actually looking for Glenn Steele to come in for third-downs!As far as Williams, he was not ever really badly beaten, just slightly missed or on the wrong angle or did not jam enough, basically needs more exp. He will get better but his lack of exp. gave Pennington easy pickens. You can't tell me that Reggie Myles or Terrel Roberts would have been caught out like that. Maybe but I doubt it. jditty47
Udeze for Minnesota did pretty damn good in his debut.
kingwilly
I stand corrected.Udeche 1 tackle and 1 assist 1 pass defended. For a starting rookie that is nice. Dallas was in the playoffs last year so that is something. Hmm. If we had taken Udeche instead of Perry and his hammy, would we have gotten a couple more 3 and outs? Maybe. It looksed like the Rudi fumble(for a score) and the Palmer pick at the end were the difference, poor Defense not withstanding. Improve the play of the D, get 2 more 3 and outs a game and we win going away. Enough heartache about these things we can't control. What we can control (or choose not to) is the amount of smack that is going to get dropped on the Miami fansite's this week. Bring on the fish food...tastes like chicken. jditty47
the stats arent everythign. I watched the vikings game, he did alot more than just those 3 stats. He almost caused vinny to fumble on one play.
