BengalByTheBay
86 yds/gm over 16 games = 137696 yds/gm over 16 games = 1536I don't see an issue with the claim that CD would be getting 1300-1500 for the year.Heck, thier scheme did not really have him in all that much. 15 carries in Cincy and he'd be crying. Brady was an animal.CD will sour the NE area once they start to lose (around week 5 or 6). Give him time and he'll turn bad like back-dated milk in the sun.Exactly right! It's good Corey, bad Corey. The guy's all over the place. Sure, right now he's saying that the coaches are great and making the right calls.... Just wait, if he keeps getting 12 - 15 carries a game after the halfway point of the season you're gonna start hearing how he's not getting respect. Throw in a couple of losses and it'll be a meltdown. All this from a guy who keeps proving he can't punch the ball in from inside the 5.Just my opinion, but I don't think the Pats plan on giving him the ball 20 times at any point in the season. I guess we'll see.
schweinhart
I'm all for Dillon having a great year so he can help the Pats beat the other three East teams twice and the North teams besides Cincy. It'll boost the Bengals bid for a 2004 playoff run
jditty47
right back at ya ditty. 86 yards & 0 TDs is a great game . So good runs are all him and bad runs all the fault of his o-line? Where have we heard that before? Oh, yeah, Corey himself! Dillon is not a great back. He's good, definitely above average, but not in the same class as guys like Tomlinson, Faulk, Lewis, Alexander or even Curtis Martin.86 yards in game 1 and he's going to get 1,500 for the season?? how is 86 yards on 15 carries not a great game? If Rudy did that and we won u'de be stoked as hell cuz he obviously didnt need to bail out the passing game. Rewatch the game buddy, the one play i specifically remember is when he got stuffed in the backfield by a nosetackle, he was unblocked. Rudy doesnt get blocking, same thing will result, and we saw both of them get stuffed in the backfield last year, not many times, but id say rudy just as much as dillon. How is he not a great back. One injury and throw his career out the window? He was on a losing team that never had the lead to milk to get yards/carries. Falk - had a great QB at all times, Lewis - 1 season, Alexander - i agree, and Martin always had a great team to get a lead early. Martin never had explosive games like dillon did and they both were consistent. 86 yards on 15 carries, ya i believe he'll get 1500. If he gets 20-25 carries a game hes a shoe in. They passed a whole lot more than they prolly would vs someone with a good secondary. It was the colts for godsake.
kevnz
It was the colts for godsake. You said it...Do you think he's gonna do as good against teams that can actually stop people????
jditty47
we'll see, he was runnin with power and determination, if he keeps those components, he will be a force.
PatsFanTX
how is 86 yards on 15 carries not a great game? Dillon had a great game Thursday night. As soon as the Pats signed him, I knew he would never get anywhere near the number of carries as he did with the Bengals. I figured between 15-20 carries maximum. There is no way the Pats will minimize their short passing game because of the addition of Dillon. Hell, he wasn't even on the field to start the game.Bottom line, he did what Pats fans expected Thursday night. 86 yards for an average of 5.7 yards per carry. Can't ask for anything more than that. HoosierCat
how is 86 yards on 15 carries not a great game? Well, crap, the first thought that popped to mind was the stat skyline mentioned in his bengalszone column yesterday, the note about the Bengals finishing first against the run in preseason, allowing only 72 yards a game. So if holding backs to 72 yards is great run D, how the &^*# is an 86 yard performance a great game???One more time: go back and reread my posts. I did not say he sucked. Dillon had a good game, but it was nothing special, nothing that couldn't have been duplicated by a couple dozen other RBs around the league. Will CD break some big games for the Pats this year? Almost certainly. He'll have a couple games where he gets 150, 200, 250 yards and multiple TDs. And he'll have six or eight more games like this, where he gets 70 or 80 yards. And then he'll have a bunch of games where all he gets is 30 or 40 or 50 yards. We watched that pattern happen here over and over and over again.I'm not "throwing his career out the window based on an injury." I'm not that impressed with his career overall. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being an elite back and 3 being average, Dillon is a 4. He had a chance to rise to that elite level, but never had the mental toughness to do so. The truly great backs give their all no matter what; CD always lacked that kind of dedication.
jditty47
his ability and skill outway his dedication. on that 72 yard avg it was like a 25-30 carries vs us avg as well, compared to 15 by corey. Ya i'd still say thats a great day coming with a win.
wookie
I think Corey did fine against the Colts. He did get stuffed by an unblocked D-lineman on the one play, but he was met at the line and actually run out of bounds on 1 play for -1 yard. There were no fumbles, no dropped passes, and no helmet tossing going on. He also had a tremendous block for Brady on a pass play that brought a big gain. I'd agree somewhat with Joisey that it wasn't anything a few other backs in the league could have done. I just wouldn't name 12 of them.As for his comments after the game, he was just blowing smoke. Everyone is waiting for him to go on a rant and he's not going to do that....not yet. He should know that in all reality the coaches didn't put them in a position to win...Edge did.3 turnovers in the redzone and the Patriots still needed a missed field goal at the end to keep from going into overtime??? Dillon should have been talking about how lucky the team got, and how they need to step it up a bit to continue their success.I can see Dillon getting his 1400, 0r 1500 this year, but I don't think he's back to his early form in Cincy. He's still in the top 10-15 backs in the league and the Patriots should be glad to have him.

JPW
You know what I can't believe? That we've spent 3 pages talking about Corey "Cry Me a River" Dillon.Let's move on, shall we? And there was really nothing to talk about.....I mean come on, he had two good runs and one very nice block. The rest of the time he was stopped cold.......Dillon had an ok game, nothing more nothing less just ok.
