It’s just the Brewers they’ve had issues with. I’m not about to knock them either. They have solid pitching from starters to relievers.

We have, well…. Our pitching staff.

About as night and day as you can get.

Well the Reds finally get a win over the Brewers.
They take a 4 run lead into the 9th inning only to have it cut to 4-3.
Half a game back with the last game of the series happening this afternoon.

And somehow the Brewers get beat by the Nationals who suck ass and we win the opener against the Cubbies.
1.5 games in first place.

Who would have guessed that on the 1st of August the Reds would be in first place?

HINT - NO ONE !!

They also traded for a reliever, but I can't say as I know much about Sam Moll, outside of him being a lefty, which we needed.

The cost for Moll was a RHP who was rated #28 in our farm system.  Joe Boyle.

Well, just when I thought the Reds were going to fade out of contention, they get India and Votto back, along with a solid start from another rookie pitcher.
With another win last night, they are now tied for the last wild card spot and are still firmly in a position to get into the playoffs with just over two weeks to go.

Just the fact they're in contention at all is amazing given expectations at the beginning of the season. Even if they don't make it into the postseason (and if they do I wouldn't expect them to go anywhere) it's been a very promising year. If this team can get some pitching -- any pitching! -- it might actually contend for real.

Agree completely Hoosier.  It was suppose to be a cellar-dweller kind of season and here they are still in the mix with two weeks remaining.
The fact they have done that largely with rookies at damn near every position speaks highly of the future of this team.
YES, pitching.  Get it however you can.  Just get it and watch GABP sell out all season long as they continue to contend in the future.

I wonder if ownership has pulled their heads out of their asses about the franchise being capable of profitability?
Amazing how putting a winning product on the field directly correlates with butts in seats and merch sales.

They aren't out of it quite yet though.
They are a game and a half out of the last wild card spot.
They need the Cubs and the Marlins to lose for them to have a chance.
The Cubs and Marlins have 4 games remaining and the Reds have 3.

Any way around, this season was fun for much longer than I recall a Reds season being in a long time.
They are young and need some pitching heading into next year.  If they can do that, they should be in it next year too.
This is a young team with a lot of talent.

And the season comes to an end tonight.  All around it’s hard to be disappointed. Most people expected them to be in the basement most of the season. No one made a projection of them still being in the race with 3 games remaining in the season.

Get some rest, some pitching, and get after it in 2024 !!

Agreed and wish him nothing but the best.

Crazy to think he's spent the majority of his life either playing (19 years) or managing (26 years) baseball.
He was drafted by the Braves before I was born in 1967.
Not to mention he served for the Marine Reserves from 1969-1975, which I was not aware of.

At 74 years old, he's more than earned his retirement !!
