richmond_mat
I'm taking it for what it's worth: a runaway preseason victory against a top-ranked team in which the worst we can complain about is the poor punting. Good job, Bengals. The punting situation is very concerning.
Chad Johnson
I say Larson has the edge...Yeah even though it's preseason its still a complete domination over a team...
wookie
I say Larson has the edge...Yeah even though it's preseason its still a complete domination over a team... That's what the Bucs Fans were saying after Monday and we jumped all over them for it. Lewis isn't going to let this go to his teams head, and we shouldn't get too carried away with it either. It feels good to see the team play like that, no doubt...but I'll be happier if they start doing it consistently during the regular season. HoosierCat
...did anyone notice how good the Jets looked against the Colts last night?? They had a similar performance to the Bengals. Pennington was locked in and his receivers were playing great, and their Defense was fantastic. Yes and no. Yes, Pennington and the Jets offense was clearly clicking last night. They shredded the Indy starting D with frightening ease. But no, their defense wasn't fantastic. The Colts moved the ball at will, but killed themselves with fumbles (2) and picks (1). Manning was 6-12, 85 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and James got something like 67 yards on 12 carries.I've suspected all along that opening day is going to be a shootout between these two clubs, and yesterday's games only bolstered my belief. wookie
Considering it was only the second game the Jets used this defense I think they did a pretty good job. The fumbles and the pick can be indicative of a mistake by the offense, or of the defense forcing the error. Could have been a little of both.I agree, this could turn into a shootout. jjakq27
This may have been mentioned earlier but here are a few comments about last night.1. No one helped Corey Dillon up off the field last night. And Brian Simmons seemed extra juiced during the goalline plays. That spoke volumes on how they felt about him.2. I glad to see that Corey still can't sniff out the endzone and he's got a bunch of new guys to blame.3. CP is the real deal.. Nuff said!4. Their O-Linemight be the best they've had since the late 80's.5. The punting situation is scary.6. Perry was facemasked, which wasn't called and that led to his penalty.7. We beat a very good team which can only help them down the road.8. Belichick must have been pissed since he left his starting D in for most of the game.9. Rudi Johnson is fun to watch. I don't think most of those points were made earlier. I hadn't heard anything about the face mask, but Perry is making the excuse that he threw the ball on the ground and it just happened to land on the guys chest. BTW...point # 3, didn't you mean to say Case Closed.
Barbarian
Just got back from the game. Great game. If Palmer plays like he did, he'll win league MVP (his incompletes were still catchable balls). Showed a lot of his athletisism. Clemons had an incredible motor. Brousard looked very good, and TJ made up for his Monday disaster. One note, NE didn't look like themselves. I wonder if it has anything to do with showing very little so the Bengals have little to work with on December 12th.Great win. Offensive line looked best. They had a ton of great blocks for Carson to throw and allow Rudi 50 yards in the first quarter.Another note, NE had most of the Defensive starters in the second half until the fourth quarter and Dillon was in until half way through the 3rd Q. Dillon did little. We were loud against him, but he didn't do well. OK, now I hope that we got it out of our system against Dillon and move on. I'll repeat what I said in the other thread just for the sake of this thread:Historically, New England begins seasons slow. Last year, they went 0-fer in the first 2 games. Buffalo actually killed them 30-something to Nothing. People were writing them off. Then they go on a tear for the next 14 regular season games and end up winning the big game.I also agree that it is PreSeason. The New England Defense is going to be very vanilla.Still--Palmer looked huge out there!!! That cannon is something else.

BTW...point # 3, didn't you mean to say Case Closed. On the Perry play, he was laying on top of the tackler and he had his arm around Perry's head and neck. Perry got up kinda quick like the guy was pulling on his mask. He stood over him for a split second and dropped the ball onto his chest. All of the fans at our end of the field were yelling at the refs that they should have called a facemask instead of giving Perry the flag. Hopefully he will not be a hothead and cost us in crucial situations. And I probably should have said Case Closed for #3. I wouldn't want you to confuse me with a TB Bucs fan by saying things like "Nuff"! :player:
