wookie
When is lewis going to cut T.J. ?? Bengals.com mentioned that they were going to keep 6 WR's. 4 are already in the mix as far as I can tell.1) Chad Johnson2) Kelly Washington3) Peter Warrick4) Patrick JohnsonThat leaves 2 spots open between Maurice Mann, Walter, Ziesel, Broussard, and T.J.If Mann can show he belongs then I think that he and Broussard should get the last 2 spots...Walter may be able to secure a spot over one of them but I think T.J. only has an edge on Ziesel. So, should T.J. be in the next round of cut downs, or should he get the entire preseason to prove himself? HoosierCat
Walter & TJ make the roster. Zeisel gets cut, Broussard & Mann to the practice squad. And yeah, I don't see what Marvin likes about TJ so much either.
shworge
If Warrick was 100% healthy I don't think TJ would be on this team right now. He is the closest thing we have to a true slot receiver other than Warrick. I will be shocked if Walter doesn't make the team because him, Reggie Myles and Khalid Abdullah were our three special teams studs and with Abdullah gone I don't think they will cut Walter as well. wookie
I thought that Walter was a special teamer but I couldn't remember. He definitely gets the edge there, and T.J. can't continue to make mistakes because he will get cut. Lewis likes certain players, but he can still be objective. He like Ross too, remember? Interesting that Mann and Broussard could end up on the practice squad, I hadn't thought of that. Still, I would like to see 1 of them beat out T.J. Game performance should account for more than practice production. I think that the reason Lewis likes him is his ability to practice well. Unfortunately he just doesn't carry that over into game situations.
skyline
I know I'm in the minority here, but I still like TJ. I remember seeing him in a Bengal/Steeler game a couple of years back, and he was the man several times during that game. He came up with quite a few big plays.Of course, you guys are right...he just makes too many stupid mistakes. I think he'll iron those out as we go through the preseason, though. He has missed close to an entire season...
CTBengalsFan
i'm going to wait until the preseason is over, but right now i'd say keep walter (for white boy possession receiver sentimentality), and broussard.
bengalsfan33
I say Mann and Walter or will make the team. TJ has no business making the team because the poor guy can't even catch a cold so why have him as one of the 6 receivers on your team... EdwardG
While I was happy to give TJ all kinds of grief after the game, I think we are overreacting a little bit. TJ hadn't played in what seemed like forever, so there is no reason to get all pissy because he made a couple big mistakes. While we are at it, let's cut Perry for fumbling as well. jditty47
i think our 6 will be:CJWarrickWashingtonWalterTJMannIt hink P. Johnson will end up getting cut cuz he hasnt hardly practiced. I think TJ will get cut if he doesnt improve, but he has 3 weeks to show it...warrick wont play sat, and will hardly play vs atlanta and indy, that means tj has a ton of chances to get back on track. jditty47
they also might keep Broussard over TJ though now that i think about it...

skyline
Hmm...My pick is:CjWarrickWashingtonWalterHoushJohnsonCase closed I wouldn't be opposed to this list as long as we could keep Broussard (sp?) around on the practice squad.I also wish I knew how Mann has looked so far. I haven't heard much at all about this kid...
Kirkendall
I'm with jditty on this.. what has Patrick Johnson done to convince anyone that he's deserved of a spot? I think he's on the chopping block more than TJ honestly -- well, maybe not after Monday. ChadPWWashingtonWalterTJPick out of a hat... wookie
Sorry guys, but I think that T.J. is the offense's version of Artrell Hawkins. He has shown promise, and has made some teriffic plays over the last few years, but he hasn't been consistent and or healthy enough to make a valuable contribution. I like him...I've said on other threads that i hope he catches on somewhere, but I don't think he fits in Cincy. My preference would be to let guys like Mann and Broussard jump in and get some extra reps now that Warrick is out again, let them get some reps in with the 1st team. Play T.J. enough to get an idea of his progress, or lack thereof, but don't play him more than Warrick would have played in the starting role. Chad Johnson
Ive hated TJ since I first saw him. (long hair on football players)CUT HIM SIMPLY FOR MAKING PALMER GET AN INT WHEN IT WAS HIS FAULT!!!! that really pissed me....cut his ass... schweinhart
Housh gotta go. He costs more pts. than he's worth.Vs. Bucs he cost 14 pts.7 on the INT. because it was all clear to the end zone if he catches.3 from the FG the Bucs kicked after the INT.4 for the difference between a TD and a FG because he don't have the mind to get his feet in bounds. wookie
Bengals.com is now saying that Walter is the favorite for the 4th spot due to special teams play and the fact that he's been catching everything thrown at him this camp. This leaves Patrick Johnson to prove himself over the next 2 games, and Mann, Broussard, and TJ to fill the last spot. Mann should be back in the lineup this week also, hopefully he'll show enough to stick around.
shworge
How much does TJ go against the Cap??? p.s.I'm too lazy to look that one up. He signed a one year tender of 628K for a restricted free agent.

The Bucs rushed 8 on that play and Palmer made the blocking adjustment with the fullback and TJ was the hot read and he blew it. Of course Palmer is the one that gets the bad statistic (INT) not TJ. Of course Palmer is the one that gets the bad statistic (INT) not TJ. Wouldn't it be great if there were two stats for INTs...one that gets placed on the QB, and one that gets put on with the WR stats? You wouldn't be able to distinguish between the two on running wrong routes or anything, but it would be pretty easy to separate catchable drops, tips, etc. and pure INTs. The Brew Man
TJ is going nowhere. Marvin sees something in this kid or he would not have kept him all of last season.
Barbarian
I say cut him. He's been around far too long. Give one of the youngsters a shot. TJ has had plenty of time to prove himself--which he didn't do.
