gregcook68
It's all copacetic Greg. As a fan base a Bengals fans have spent two decades complaining about things that were never going to change (see Brown, Mike). So shouting at the clouds is sort of ingrained. It will be interesting to see how many "casual" fans are left come next fall. If your former board is any indication Bengals fandom is going to eat itself alive over the next eight months. If you're referring to the Bengals Forum, has anyone in Cincy seen any news clips of any unexplained suicides in the city since Sunday?? :blink:/> I would think there would be some bodies floating in the river by now! When I refer to myself as a 'casual' fan, I'm defining someone who follows, roots for, the Bengals, stays up on any personnel changes, all the website news, but doesn't get into trying dissect things mostly because I don't know enough or care enough about 'that' part of the process. The strike in the 80s really soured me big time! You got grown men playing a kids games, making millions and striking for more millions with teachers making a notch above minimum wage!Anywho, it is what it is and go Reds! ArmyBengal
For me, getting into all the "what ifs" just gives me something else to preoccupy all the time I don't have to spare.I enjoy the back and forth about what may or may not work. I enjoy hearing what other people think about what I saw myself.I enjoy the ups and downs and the fact that most of the guys on this board keep coming back regardless of outcome. This isn't a huge board and it feels more like family than anything else after almost 10 years of being here. One thing I have really grown to love is the draft !!! Scottishbengal
Oh hell, I can answer that. We put a young, inexperienced and banged-up offense out on the field and told them to throw the ball 50+ times. That's why we lost.I don't agree here Hoosier, we HAD to throw the ball so much as we were chasing the game. If we'd have been 7 or 10 points up going into the 4th quarter I'd like to think we would have run more often and been a bit more conservative. But when you're behind and desperate you have little option. Now I'm not sure who would/should have run the ball ...BJGE was averaging 5yds per carry but they seemed to want to run Gio up the middle ...not his forte.... so perhaps a running game wouldn't have proved as effective as I'd hoped it would, but I'm sure it would have been less ineffective as the passing game we put out there. HoosierCat
They weren't down that big until late, most of the game was less than two TDs. But if you don't believe me, listen to Gruden, who went around yesterday saying he should have run more but didn't because SD might have stopped the run so he didn't try and passed instead. Or something like that.

Or something like that.Just have to look at the NO win, they were down with less than 4 minutes left and needed a FG to win. That last drive was a run oriented smash mouth time consumer. The Bengals gave up on the run way to early and the SD defense knew it was going to happen as soon as they took the lead. Gruden just does not run the ball when behind much. It does not matter when it is in the game or by how much they are behind. He just reverts to his Arena football days and starts heaving it and hoping for good things to happen. Sometimes it works, in the playoffs it has not.
