The reports on him when he was cut by Oakland were, well they were pretty vague, but I got the sense that he was not going to see the field again this season because of knee problems. Not too sure when that first started, but there were reports of it from training camp at least. Sounds possibly degenerative. You'd have to think that, as desperate as the Raiders are on defense, if he had any chance to contribute he wouldn't have been cut.

I wondered about him when he got cut, but not much.

Was it injuries or just that he sucked at the NFL level ??

If it was the latter, don't we already have guys like him ??

He was a beast coming out of college though for sure !!

Well being bengals love 1st round picks cut by other teams,Doesn't always work out but if we could get another Nelson,Pacman etc I'd be cool with it.

Yeah I read the same thing: his knees are shot. Was a big supporter of drafting him. Reason 8,944 why the Bengals should never listen to me.

If his knees are shot, the workout with the Bengals will have revealed that. If not, he would be worth signing as a depth/ST guy. With guys like that, you have to manage your expectations.

As for MJ, he should be resigned. The guy is rock-solid, durable, and a good citizen. You won't get anywhere by letting guys like him go to other teams. Whether he wants 10 mil a year, I wouldn't take Reedy's word on that.

Why cut Jason Allen now? Why not IR? The coaches have watched him up close for some time now. If he's a good guy trying to get back on the field and is working hard to do so, I say keep him around. Although, I do find his injury situation somewhat perplexing.
