ArmyBengal Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 The Reds start a 3 game series with the Dodgers tonight.A Reds win coupled with a Cardinals loss gives them the NL Central. Here's to hoping they can keep playing some solid ball, see the youngsters get some playing time.Dusty will be back in the dugout, but he not going to be managing.GO REDS !!! Quote
Stripes Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 I don't object to the young guys getting to play a bit, but I do hope the starters continue to play consistently through the end of the season. Beyond there still being the #1 seed to play for, I don't want the players to stagnate and enter the playoffs cold. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 Oh don't get me wrong, I don't want to see an entire infield of new guys, but some playing time would be good exposure.Heck they don't even need to get the start. Start swapping guys out about the 5th inning or so.I'd be good with that. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Sweet way to clinch the division, against a hated former division rival from the old days.Make the Dodgers bleed blue, Go Reds! Quote
Sea Ray Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 I wonder if they'll even get tonight's game in. It's looking awfully wet at this point. I'd like to see Cincinnati get treated to a Sat night clinch party at Oktoberfest and all. That'd be great Quote

Start swapping guys out about the 5th inning or so.I'd be good with that. The only reasons I care about playing the regulars is to get them prepared for the post season and maybe to knockout the Cardinals...As yesterday showed, at least from an offensive standpoint, the backups can put up more runs than the regulars. I think where we may blow games is by the inevitable limiting of innings that will come as Dusty pulls his starters after 5 or 6 innings in the next week or so. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 The Dodgers are 3 games back in their Division and for the last wild card spot, so I expect them to be playing hard.It should be a fun series to watch over the weekend. Quote

Mayby every few games. Quote

You'll see no scrubs in their lineup I think. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 I stand corrected, the Dodgers are 10 games back in their Division.I think it makes them even hungrier seeing how they are still in the Wild Card. However, they haven't bene playing that well lately, so we will see. Quote
Earendil Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Cards lost today, so the Reds can close it tonight. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Cards lost today, so the Reds can close it tonight.Well if they don't do something soon, they'll have to do it in extra innings. Quote
Earendil Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 What the crap was that ump? >that pitch didn't hit him!! !! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 22, 2012 Author Report Posted September 22, 2012 Reds lose in extras. Such is life. They can clinch today before taking the field if the Cards lose in an early game.Kinda sucks and is rather unexciting, but won't complain either. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 I was just looking over the MLB standings as to possible playoff matchups, and one team is jumping out at me. Milwaukee. This ball club has a head of steam fighting for a wild card right now by winning their last six and and nine of their last ten. You gotta admit that's the way to roll into the playoffs. If the Reds finish 2nd seed, Washington will have to deal with the Brew Crew first. We'll see how it goes. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted September 22, 2012 Author Report Posted September 22, 2012 That's the kind of dominating win that makes the Reds a dangerous team.Keep the focus from today and it's on come the playoffs !!! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 24, 2012 Author Report Posted September 24, 2012 Reds lose 5-3 and I don't care. Why ??BECAUSE WE ARE THE F*CKING NL CENTRAL CHAMPS !!!Seriously, it didn't appear they were that worried.Moving on... Quote
