Surprised By RB Holdout

Don't most running backs who hold out get injured? It seems like you are alot more likely to get hurt especially at RB when you hold out. I understand wanting to get as much as you can, but Perry shouldn't get more than a RB that was selected before him. I think the negatives outweigh the positives when it comes to $100,00 vs an entire career. Nice agent.

Perry is effing up, no doubt. Him or his agent -- or both.

If you read between the lines of the Ratliff signing story on bengals.com, specifically the part where Rosenhaus says each side gave a little, the Bengals appear willing to give at least a fig leaf's worth of a concession. Parker should get his butt down to Georgetown and hammer out a deal. He won't get all he wants but he'll get something to crow about and Perry will get into camp. Everyone wins.

Of course, since that makes sense, it won't happen...

I have to say though, the Bengals have a royal flush in their hand and Perry has a pair of 2's -- if that. With Rudi, Watson, and Hicks on staff, we certainly don't need Perry's services this entire year, unless something bad happens (which is all but expected without striped tigers). So I'm not sure exactly what purpose Perry and his ass of an agent are expecting....

I'm still curious why we drafted him the first place.

Although Michigan backs routinely suck, he must have showed something to Marvin when he coached him at the Senior Bowl. He passed on every back in the draft to take him.

Yea, I know. Other than that, does it make sense to you? I mean, is a first round pick running back a good practice when he's going to be delegated to the bench? Is that the right price for a backup running back?

It's not like this guy won the Heisman or something. He was drafted late in the first round. Prove us wrong if you think you deserve more.

I like Marvin's stance on this too. He sounds more and more like the GM everyday.

I think it makes sense as long as Marvin has no intention for them to both be on the roster next season.

I also wouldn't say that Perry will be delegated to the bench. This isn't a Carson Palmer type of situation. He will get plenty of looks as the year goes on.

Yea, I think you may be right about that. But this is my dilema. If the Bengals believed that Rudi was the future RB, why not sign him to a long term deal? OK, we're a little unsure, so lets give him a nice one-year deal and help his unrestricted status on the open market. I think the only way to fully understand our RB situation -- which is a good cast of backs -- and what the team intends for their future is to see who gets what kind of playing time. I'm still curious -- I'm not against this or anything, I do trust our braintrust (wow, that felt dirty) -- on how it will all turn out. I guess it's one of those, stay tuned deals.

My point was that he did not win the Heisman and was drafted in the lower quarter of the first round. Therefore there is no premium that can be used by his side.

The only thing I keep hearing is that he wants #24 money since the Bengals had that pick originally. My feeling is that two other teams passed on him at 24 and 25. End of discussion.

Sign the papers, get in here and start earning your keep.

Perry likely wouldn't have been picked until #55 if we hadn't picked him.

But he's a better fit for us than Tatum Bell or Junius Jones.

Still, sign or f-off.

The season is upon us and Perry shouldn't play a whole lot this year in the backfield, especially early.
