ArmyBengal
That's the kind of win i've been wanting to see from the Reds. Playing a good team, with a good starting pitcher, and find a way to get the win in what felt like the playoffs as I was watching last night. Nice to see both rookies getting solo shots and coming up big in a pressure situation.
derekshank
Bummer. A solo homerun to break up Arroyo's perfect game. But he's still thrown 5 innings with only 52 pitches. Nice to see him pitching well.
derekshank
Arroyo has now pitched 7 innings on 72 pitches. Aside from that solo home run - he's been perfect. I'd like to see the Reds get a couple more runs. It would be nice to get some cushion so Dusty can give the bullpen the day off.
Stripes
Best game I've ever seen Arroyo pitch so far.Solo homer by Bruce!

Stripes
Hanigan's OBP is now .379. Move him up.
Stripes
That was an amazing double play. I thought they had no chance, and they ended up nailing it with almost two steps to spare by the runner to first.
derekshank
Dominic Brown is a pain in Arroyo's ass (HR and 2B), but he managed to get out of it with a nice double play. With only 83 pitches thrown, I think you have to send Arroyo back out there in the 9th. Stripes
Arroyo will definitely finish this one off. I don't think I've ever seen a complete game with under 90 pitches, and he has a chance.
Stripes
Pittsburgh just finished getting swept by San Diego. They're not far from being done, imo.
Stripes
Uh, or not. Sometimes Dusty just baffles me.At least Chapman will face some lefties.
BengalszoneBilly
Chapman seems to be struggling tonight.
Stripes
That was probably harder than it needed to be, and I don't like using Chapman when it shouldn't be necessary. Good to get the win though.

derekshank
Chapman seems to be struggling tonight.Yeah. But he didn't allow the initial runner that scored. So when giving up only a single and notching a save is defined as "struggling" - it shows how good he is.
ArmyBengal
Nice win again by the Reds. When Dusty went out, I would guess Arroyo said to bring in Chapman. It didn't have anything to do with Arroyo and more to do with the leadoff guy getting on base and having Chapman available. True, but I'm so used to him just coming in and mowing down the opposition. I'm spoiled I guess.
derekshank
Reds win! Pirates and Cards lose. Good day!Unfortunately the Cardinals didn't lose. I don't think it's even possible to lose to the Astros right now.The Nationals did lose though... so the Reds are only 1.5 games back from the #1 seed. derekshank
The Astros are an amazing 6-32 since the all-star break. That's a .158 winning percentage. That's historic. With only 38 games left in the season, if they were to go 6-32 again, they would finish the season with only 45 wins. Only the '62 Mets (40 wins) and '03 Tigers (43 wins) would have a worse record in the last 50 years.
UK Bengal
Does only the no1 seed get homegirls advantage ?
Sea Ray
That was probably harder than it needed to be, and I don't like using Chapman when it shouldn't be necessary. Good to get the win though.I wouldn't say it wasn't necessary. The Phils had the top of the order coming up with a runner on 1st, no outs. That's what closers do. That was a real save tonight by Chappy. You don't want the likes of Rollins, Utley and Howard getting a 4th look at Arroyo in that situation

I hate seeing Baker leave starting pitchers in for 1 or 2 batters more than he should. I was thrilled when I saw him make that move last night. ArmyBengal
How many times this season has Arroyo been left in longer than he should have ??I liked the call, but had the leadoff hitter not gotten aboard, Arroyo would have stayed in.He was pitching well enough for him to get the shot at a complete game, but at that point they had to be smart and I think the correct call was made. BengalszoneBilly
Reds were up 3-2 in the 8th, now tied at 3 in the 9th. It would be nice to take this series.
