He's your hottest hitter, Phillips and Votto are out, why rest him today? Wait to rest him after Phillips/Votto come back On 8/2/2012 at 3:50 PM, ArmyBengal said: Puzzling indeed. I guess it's Heisey's turn to get hot.Or at least he better make it happen today. Can't say as I understand that decision.I don't see it as puzzling at all. Dusty is resting him up for the Pirates series. Quote
Stripes Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Dusty has made it a habit to rest Ludwick immediately after he has a monster game lately, save for the consecutive 4 RBI efforts the last two nights. I've wanted to gripe, but Luddy just keeps smashing the baseball at nearly every opportunity. Without him today the Reds have still managed 3 runs in the 2nd inning, too. Quote
Earendil Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I'll take 6 run 2nd innings all the time. Especially with Cueto pitching. Quote
Stripes Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Lots of hot bats going into the Pirates series. If the starters don't allow this bad week to become a collective slump, the Reds ought to take 2 or 3 pretty easily. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 6 run lead with Cueto on the mound ??Yeah, that makes me smile. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Xavier Paul struggling in the starters role today with 3 strikeouts.Oh well, 8-4 is nothing to complain about. Quote

derekshank Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I know it's the Padres, but no Votto, no Phillips, and Ludwick gets the day off... and they still put up 8 runs through 6 innings? This is a very good team. Quote
derekshank Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Cueto hasn't been his best... but I hope he pitches the 7th and 8th innings. He's got a 4 run lead and has only thrown 86 pitches. It would be nice to give the bullpen some rest before the Pirates series this weekend. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 I was thinking the same thing Derek.Rest the bullpen.Agree seeing the team put up those runs considering who ISN'T in the lineup !!! Quote

Stripes Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 It's nice to see Rolen consistently hitting well. Can't understate the importance of his turnaround under the current circumstances. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Good series win for the Reds, and riding a nice 3 game win streak to boot! Quote

And they are 17-3 since the all-star break... which is ridiculous.Even if they only win 50% of their games from here one out, they'll still have 92 wins - which would be their best seasons since 1999 (when they won 96 games). They should do better than that though... because they have the 2nd Easiest Schedule in the NL from here on. They are currently sporting a .610 winning percentage, which would be on pace for a 99 win season... Cincinnati's best since the Big Red Machine in 1976. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 Playing against the Padres at home should have produced a series win, so i'm happy that's what happened in this 4 game series.Again, beat the teams you are supposed to beat and nut up this weekend. I hope the ballpark is packed !!!I'll start the Pirates thread up in the morning. Quote
