ArmyBengal Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 They kick off a 3 game series against the Cubs today at 2:20pm (EST).Bailey takes the mound (Oh Good God) against Volstad (equally crappy). After this road series, the Reds kickoff a 9 game homestand. The last time I said this, it worked against the Reds, but....A series win here would really help things out heading home. A sweep would be huge.GO REDS !!! Quote

redsbengalsbucks Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Why cant any of our pitchers get a bunt down? It is getting silly. Hey Baker, maybe some extra time practicing bunting would help.Cozart and Stubbs pick Bailey up this time, so far so good today. Quote

The two runs were both unearned thanks to poor defense. That said, it IS the Cubs. If you can't pitch well against them, then your days in this league are severely numbered. Quote

Horrible fundamental baseball, good pitching today though. Quote
Stripes Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Good job, Reds. It's nice to see the offense put something together without Votto having to be right at the center of it.Yeah it's the Cubs, but the 2010 team made the playoffs by beating the crappy ones and winning on the road. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 21, 2012 Author Report Posted April 21, 2012 Nice to see them go out and hit the ball nicely throughout the entire game.Sometimes beating the hell out of a crappier team can do wonders for your state of mind. Here's to seeing some more of that this weekend !!! Quote
UK Bengal Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Well the bats have woken up I know it's the cubs but this same cub team beat the cardinals 8-0 and it's actually surprising me that homer has performed well.Chapman was just clutch as he has been this year roll on game 2 today Quote

What if he is needed in the next 2 games in a row? We already know he is not the same pitcher throwing 3 days straight. I wish they had tried another bullpen option in the 8th, just to try and get some other RP's some confidence built up and save Chapman for the close games. At least Baker didnt run Marshall out there in the 9th, also. BengalszoneBilly Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 The biggest thing about the win over Chicago is that is was number 10,000 for Cincinnati as a franchise! Congratulation Reds! Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Phillips comes through early! 1-0 Reds! Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Freakin' Leake gives a run right back... Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Jesus... Leake and Ludwig are just blowing this game! 5-1 Cubs. I guess I'll get no win for my birthday. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Billy it looks like you may have blown your entire B-day wad early this morning. Quote

cincyhokie Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 The consistently inconsisent play of the Reds returns. I'm less worried about Mike Leake and more worried about this team scoring only one run in a game for the 7th time in 15 games. Quote
UK Bengal Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Hey it could be worse we could be the red sox 9-0 up after 5 now 14-9 down in the 8th ouch Quote
