Walrus
I just condensed the topics seeing as how we were talking about all of this here already.I also don't see the Newman signing or release of Rico-Suave as having the slightest impact on the draft. It just is what it is. A signing.I see this signing, along with the rest of the non-flashy FA signings they've made as having a definite impact the draft -- in the sense that it removes the sense of urgency to reach for a player at a position of need in the draft. No, Newman probably wouldn't start ahead of some of the guys already on the team or the CB they're likely to select early in the draft, but roster depth is sufficient now that the team is in a position where they would still be ok in the (however unlikely) scenerio that there's an early run on CBs and none of the guys they like make it through to them. This team needs capable starters all over the place. In a case such as above where there's a run on one position, the team will be positioned to pivot and get value at one of many other positions where they have some depth but lots of room for improvement in the starting lineup. Those signings might keep them from going there more than once, but that could still be questioned.

We're seven days out and I feel it's high time to kick this thing off!
