I agree with you, Army. I don't think the cops handled this right at all and I'd support action against them, but it's not going to bring anyone back to life. If you don't want to take a chance on getting killed by a bad cop, don't f... with him.

Yeah, i'm not in the line of thought that doing anything would bring him back or that people should be f*cking with cops.

I'm only of the line of thought that training should be paramount and in this situation, this individual was lacking.

Authorities say a California sheriff's deputy didn't violate department policy when he fatally shot a former NFL player after a scuffle at a convenience store.

The Bakersfield Californian reported that the Kern County Sheriff's Incident Review Board issued its finding Monday, one day after NAACP members questioned if the shooting of David Lee "Deacon" Turner was justified.

So the Sheriff's own review board has no problem with the shooting? Bad news, the COB Shooting Review Board has found the officer to have committed a homicide. Either finding is equally credible.

The Sheriff's Incident Review Board surely will entertain the most self serving interpretation of any facts or law set before it. They know they're going to get sued, they don't want to hand the plaintiff his case in a nice basket with a bow on it.

When are we going to hear from the Grand Wizard, err..., I mean the County Prosecutor?

Pretty mysterious how the store video captured the incident on tape, but right at the time of the shooting 6 seconds are missing from the tape. Is there even a prosecutor in Kern County, California?

While that's exactly what I'd tell my kids, I can't help but also think that reacting strongly against those who misrepresent the authority that has been granted to them is the only way to make progress against this kind of problem. Stated another way, the problem is not that the police have authority, it's that those that abuse that authority are not immediately and harshly dealt with. It's not the crime - it's the cover up. Protecting cops that abuse authority equals approval.
