He was just a skosh less disruptive but played a lot more snaps. If he can continue to increase his PT and still perform at a high level he'll be a terror. ArmyBengal
As is anything like this, it's left up to interpretation. No one has any idea what Ruckers numbers would look like if he were given the snaps that Geathers or Dunlap were given.I'm not saying he would be equally sh*tty by any stretch, but i'm not willing to say he'd be in the pro bowl either.I will say that with the lack of production from players like Geathers, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to seeing if Rucker could do more if he were to be given a larger share of snaps. That being said, if he could stay healthy, he might be able to get those snaps. That hasn't happened much for him.I've seen reports about the coaches still not being sold on Dunlap which I find laughable. The guy played half a season and was complete madness when finally given the opportunity. Had he been given a shot earlier, the best rookie defensive lineman may very well have been Dunlap as opposed to Suh. While i'm not comparing what Suh brings to the table, you simply can't overlook how much Dunplap produced with limited playing time.I'm about done with all things Tank Johnson as well. TJJackson
Carlos and Geno are only gonna get better with more practice snaps and playing time
HoosierCat
I've seen reports about the coaches still not being sold on Dunlap which I find laughable. Are the coaches giving a reason, other than last year's coachspeak BS ("doesn't practice well/needs to learn to be a pro")? Earlier in the offseason he was all but assured a starting spot. If they are pulling back on that now, I think it's a big mistake.

However.....there has got to be something that the coaches see that is prompting their skepticism. Whether it is maturity, durability, the surprise factor or drop-off of guys like Geathers, they must have a reason for feeling this way. While I am not sold on Hayes as an evaluator, I do have some faith in Zimmer's judgment.
HairOnFire
/>http://www.cincyjungle.com/2011/6/20/2233706/pff-robert-geathers-is-one-of-the-least-productive-pass-rushers-inSomewhere, Hair is smiling. Of course I'm smiling. Despite everything you may have heard I'm actually a very positive and upbeat person. As for the very specific reasons why I might be smiling, well....you'll have to help me out on this one as I haven't been able to read Cincy Jungle for more than a month. Nutshelled, the webpage loads, then immediately aborts. Perhaps my computer has a fear of commitment?

Maybe one of our resident techies can help?As to the piece, it's just more stuff Josh is pulling from Pro Football Focus. Frostee turns out to be our most effective pass rusher from last year, while Geathers comes out looking like crap, though of course he played more than triple the snaps. There isn't much that's new in the rankings. Frostee Rucker is always very highly ranked in regards to production in a limited number of snaps, and unproductive Robert Geathers is always poorly ranked despite playing a staggering number of snaps. Geno Atkins is as statistcally good as most high profile players. Domata Peko is highly valued as a run defender and as a team leader, but is utterly hopeless as a pass rusher. The more players play the less productive they become. We know all of this, right? Obviously the Bengals need to find a replacement for Robert Geathers, who despite becoming little more than a run stuffer still manages to play a ridiculous number of snaps due to simple durability. Because while Geathers is now permanently limited due to eroded physical skills he rarely misses playing time in the way that other options like Odom and Rucker have. Too often Geathers is simpy a warm body who can go on a roster filled with players who never can. Which brings me to the one player from the rankings who really does stand out, and for all the wrong reasons. Michael Johnson never makes plays even though the Bengals do everything possible to make sure he gets a ton of playing time.

Batting balls up or tipping them is just as good as any qb hit or hurry...
