BengalszoneBilly
I'm getting on board with Cam Newton... but it's not for the reason you'd expect.I live in Columbus, and most of my friends are not Bengal fans. One of my Browns fan buddies was telling me the other day, "Both the Bengals and Browns suck... but at least the Bengals are interesting."Embrace the circus. Chad is on his way out, and the Bengals will need some replacement douchebags. Cam is already the center of conversation for a lot of the wrong reasons. He's decidedly Bengal. If/when he busts, at least it'll be "interesting" to watch.I think he will not bust. He is a player I think that can fit any system with a little work and patience. I believe there are those that think he will bust just for the simple fact that he is a black quarterback. Now I am not saying you are saying or implying that in any way because you aren't. But there are folks particulary in the media whom greatest wish is for this guy to fail. I think it is terrible that he is held to that standard and I think any team that gives Cam a chance will benefit greatly.Couldn't agree more. Problem is I don't see Newton dropping past Carolina anymore. I think he'll likely go #1 over all.

He has some major flaws, not good at reading D's, learning to line up under center, run first reaction to pressure and the biggest to me, is only one year of major college experience. I'm not saying he is a sure bust, just that the Bengals need another bust 1st round QB like I need another hole in my bum.
Whur CHad At?
One thing your wrong about camerons ability to read defenses. He actually is pretty good. Watch tape this year, the only poor game he had reading defenses was the NC. That was the worst gamete played. And to your point about him being a run first and running due to pressure, well that was the auburn offense. They told him to run run run whenever he had the chance and that is what he did. He can adapt to a pro-style offense this kid is smart. The kid is a gamer and the one year experience doesn't scare me. Carolina is getting a steal. w8th
If you get ESPNU try to catch the Jon Gruden shows where he sits down with the QB's and watches video, asks them questions (what was the coverage, what was the read, why did you do what you did etc). I caught the one with Dalton last night and I was impressed with him. I think it's repeated on Friday night at 10:30. Mallet is tonight at 7. Locker Friday at 10. Newton is Monday at 7. Gabbert is next Wednesday at 7pm.
