COB
he looked like he was a little bit nervousHe should be nervous. He got handed the keys to a new cadillac, and so far all he's had to do is drive it down a straight road. Sort of the proverbial 'born on third base' situation. Now that he's faced with a challenge, we'll see what kind of commissioner he can be. Honestly, I think of a commissioner as a person who's paramount interest is the good of the game. That should be the driving principle behind every decision he makes. Instead, I get the feeling Roger Goodell is more concerned with the owners' interests than anything else. The impression I get is it's Smith representing the players, and Goodell representing the owners. I think they should let an owner negotiate with Smith, and let Goodell be the voice of reason, sort of a mediator that both sides can complain to and appeal to during negotiations. Goodell should be the one bartering an agreement, encouraging each side to concede this in exchange for that, bend on this and the other side will bend on that. So far in his tenure, all Goodell's done is impress me with how fast he can destroy the evidence of cheating by one of his pet franchises.
