There are 3 open spots.

Who's coming in to kick? The article suggests Reed could be signed should Pittsburgh cut him.

There is room on the roster to bring up some guys from the PS.

Just read ML's press conference. He really does not have much to say. "Work harder. Eliminate errors. Blah Blah Blah." What a little girl.

I know it's a technicality but the article says that Nugent got injured on a "failed onside kick attempt". We did get the ball right? WTF.

Also, I feel bad for Nugent. I liked the fact that he was a local kid and made his hometown team. Weird play because as the scrum was happening, I could see him laying on the ground unable to get up or to move. At first I thought maybe his leg or arm was trapped which prevented him from getting up. Kudos for going after it. Hope he can make it back.

As for Reed, that is very interesting. I always quietly liked the guy because he never seemed to miss...especially against us. But perhaps a new body from the dark side can infuse a little more life into this group.

I also find it funny how he complained about their field. I can remember Cowher, kicker Kris Brown and a few other assistants bitching about the condition of the turf at PBS those first couple of years. Time to STFU a**h***s. Theirs has to be the worst playing field in the league. Even the fields with baseball diamonds on them are in better shape. What a fkn joke.

Meh - Reed seems like kind of a red ass (not always a bad thing, but for a kicker??), but he has sucked this year. Not sure I wouldn't rather go with Rayner.

If Dunlap is benched because of Odom i will be pi**ed!!!!! Dunlap has been playing awsome out there, in fact i think all the young guys have been getting better game after game, and need to keep playing. So dont be stupid Marvin and put Odom back in there he is terrible!!!!!

As far as Marvin goes i dont think he has much to say because he is mentally exausted this year, when i listen to his press confrence it just sounds like he has nothing left to give!!!

Only thing that kills me is the fact the Marvin says, i have never seen TO give up, and gives him all this credit because when TO wants to play he puts up yards. Its time to hold players responsible for there actions on the field, right now this team is coached way to soft, and players will continue to do what they want without any action. Whatever Marvin!!!

Going into the season CB was probably the deepest position....ah how times change.

Can't say I can get excited about any Kicker that is available right now.....As for Jeff Reed, The Steelers haven't cut him, and they may not. They are bringing in Kickers to try out, the same thing we should be doing....not waiting for someone else to cut a guy....Last I checked, The Bengasl play in 6 days...how long will they wait? Rayner is a Lion, so there goes that.

Rayner is kicking in Cincy North (Detroit).

Yes, the concern with Reed is he has really lost his form.

As for Odom replacing Dunlap, I doubt it. If anything, Geathers can go into a rotation with Odom.

Yeah didn't he wreck a mens room a year or two ago. And I think Rayner is gone.

Interesting thought is if Graham was available would the Bengals have contacted him and would he sign with the team?

Who's the guy from Boston college that kicked for us last preseason?.. I liked him

Sam Swank I think.

There are several guys in the UFL that are under contract for one more week so they are unable to try out. I think Swank is one of them.

Also, Matt Stover is on the short list of tryout candidates but I also read that he is getting a tryout in Pittsburgh too. I always liked that guy.

I just got off air here in Detroit and heard this. This guy was on the Lions roster but was waived. It's hard to remember but I believe he didnt make a field goal and missed an XP.

I'm sure it all revolved around money. They can pay him the rookie minimum whereas they'd have to pay Jeff Reed much more

Bengals news

Signed rookie K Aaron Pettrey of Ohio State. Pettrey (6-2, 199) entered the NFL on April 30 of this year as a college free agent signee by Carolina. He was waived by the Panthers on June 17 and was signed June 30 by Detroit. He played in one preseason game for the Lions, missing a 42-yard field goal try and making one PAT, and he was waived on Aug. 17. A native of Raceland, Ky., Pettry was a four-year letter winner (2006-09) at Ohio State, going 29-for-39 on field goals (74.3 percent) and scoring 173 points. He led the Big Ten in 2009 in scoring (72 points) and field goals (14).

Signed free agent OT Kirk Chambers, a sixth-year NFL player from Stanford. Chambers (6-7, 315) has 67 career NFL games played with 14 starts, including nine starts last season for Buffalo. He was a sixth-round draft choice of Cleveland in 2004 and played for the Browns in 2004-05. He did not play in 2006, and he played from 2007-09 for Buffalo. He was with the Bills during the 2010 preseason and was released on Sept. 4.

Signed OT Andrew Gardner to the practice squad. Gardner (6-6, 305; Georgia Tech) is a second-year NFL player. He was a sixth-round draft choice of Miami in 2009 and was on the Dolphins' roster for the full season, playing in one game. He was with the Dolphins in the 2010 preseason and was released on Sept. 4. He has spent time during the 2010 regular season on the Baltimore and Minnesota practice squads. He was released from Minnesota's practice squad on Thursday of last week.

According to the DDN, the team is going to sign DE Bobby McCray.

http://www.daytondai...sher_mccra.html

What they finally realized the pass rush is horrible....um alittle to late!

The sad part is he's been kicking rocks up and down the street since before the season started. WTF?

Probly coulda used him since day one.

It appears the Steeler reject and his agent passed on our offer. They wanted to take the week off.

http://news.cincinna...s-Bengals-offer

No big incentive for him to sign since he's guaranteed his Steeler salary anyway. What a lazy butt. I'd heard folks talking about him like he's a head case. I'm just as glad he's not a Bengal.

Even sadder, the same could be said for Carlos Dunlap.
