Carson, Chad and Cedric....

These words from Chad:

"What am I supposed to do? I'm out there. I'm on the field. What do you want me to do? I'm on the field, I'm available, I'm wear number 85, I'm out there, I'M OUT THERE. I'm going to leave it at that. There's nothing I can do but make myself available. Period."

These words from Cedric:

"The only person who can answer that question is the one making those calls," Benson said. "I would love to voice my opinion on that but it will get me nowhere. I'm above and beyond negative energy. It's on the film and everybody sees it. You have to play the cards you are dealt. I'm only employee number 32 and have to be there. However, I think we'll keep hitting our heads up against a brick wall if we stay blind to the facts."

I think Chad's comments are almost comical considering he still runs the wrong routes and has had his share of critical drops this year. I have much more respect for Cedric but his fumble against the Falcons didn't exactly help the cause either.

I find this all very sad. At the end of the first article they even speculated that the team might actually cut Carson at the end of the season. What a shame. So much unfulfilled promise for him. I feel bad that people will remember the decline of his career rather than the high points. I did some checking and his stats are comparable to Boomer Esiason's in many categories.

Cedric's fumble might be a case of "trying to hard." Sometimes when a guy with the determination of Benson is enduring what the Bengals are enduring now, he might think that everytime he touches the ball he has to look to score. Don't get me wrong, they should try to score, but you have to play with a level head while doing it. You can't have in the back of your mind, "This might be one of the last times I touch the ball this game, I gotta make A., B., or C. happen."

An alarm sounds.

Klaxon horns begin to blast.

Dials are checked and then rechecked.

Someone shouts.

The coolant level has dropped.

Our core is exposed.

Reports are printed, examined, and then waved in the air.

The meltdown has breached containment.

Technicians put on safety gear and then make one last desperate call home. No answer.

It's probably for the best. Let them sleep.

Sensors on saftey suits change color.

Exposed skin begins to itch....then burn.

Then nothing.

Full meltdown.

So weak.

So wonderful.

Who knew radiation this intense has an actual color?

An almost impossible shade of blue.

Impossible.

So beautiful.

Falling.

Fading.

Failing.

Last breath.

Last thought.

f**k Chad.

For some reason Benson wears some sort of suit that is able to deflect all criticism. It does help that chad does pull all of that criticism his way.

But Benson has dropped the ball a couple times this year. Both fumbles were killers too. Trying too hard? Maybe. Maybe the whole team is trying too hard, that has got to be it.

Its amazing - he is like a saint in this town. Everyone is to blame on this team. Not one player is blemish free. Not one.

3 Fumbles actually...but who's counting. FYI if you have more lost fumbles than TD's that's generally not a good thing.
