UK Bengal
I really don't think this has anything to do with the players inability to play it is all down to the coaching staff. If we swapped this bengals team for new englands team they would have won mutiple superbowls under belicheck while tom Brady would be a total no name looser here. Not even SOG can not see the benifits of a new HC and OC because the simple fact is we have an offensive system that does not suit the players, square pegs round holes comes to mind. No defence can play to optimum levels if the have less than a min's rest each series.I really hate myself for saying this but I hope we loose the rest of our games and go 2-14 and say adios to this useless offencive coaching staff Inc marvin he started promising but has failed to improve.Gd night
volcom69
Marvin and co. need to go. We need a coach in here with some balls. Marvin lost this team after the 2005 season (maybe in the playoff game), and i think he lost the team again.I see players with no heart, players quitting on the ball, not fighting to score TDs. Its sad to see the same players from last year look like this. Weather it is players or coaches they need to really look at themselves and figure out weather its time to quit or time to fight. I think these next games coming up will tell alot about this team. After this season its time to move on, please start by getting rid of Chad i really believe this team is better without him. Marvin needs to go, this team needs more disapline and Marvin is not giving it. A head coach who is not afraid to bench players for not playing hard. Time for a change, or time for a move out of town.
ArmyBengal
"Blow it up or move it out"That's my feeling on this team for the rest of the way.The problem is, I feel it's a total rebuild.Marvin, Brat, Chad, TO, most of the o-line, most of the d-line, other players and position coaches as well.Point is, it's a lot.I have no faith in anything regarding our coaches and the players don't care.I'm rooting for the youngsters to do well the rest of the way. Tough, disciplined play, resulting in points. What we've gotten though, is how the rest of the game turned out.F*CKING UGLY !!!
kenyon1977
I'd hate to have a knee jerk reaction right after a loss and just give up on the team and coaching staff and give up carign whether they move to LA or not.Well I won't. It's obvious the same old Marvin Lewis s**t isn't working. I ahven't seen the post game quotes but I'd be willing to bet he said "We just need to get better. We need to work harder in practice and get a little better each day". Apparently the team doesn't give a damn about the same quote coming from his dicksucker anymore so it's time to move on.As for the players? Well i believe there is a lot of talent on the team and just dumping everyone would be a childish over reaction also. However if you look around the league there are not many teams that are successful when their number one and two WR's are over the age of 32. It just doesn't happen often and there's a reason for that. Age.Mike Brown failed the team and fans when he didn't hire a GM a long long long time ago so you can't blame him now. They have a fairly new stadium so moving the team isn't going to be a viable option so just throw that idea out the window now.Lewis will be gone after this season regardless. I thought Zimmer was going to be the head coach next year. That's why Lewis didn't work a contract out and Zimmer only signed a one year deal. The way they are playing though I doubt he'd want to stay for a rebuild though. It'll get better though. The Bengals will beat the Steelers next week and everyone here will be happy again!!Steelers - 17Bengals -

volcom69
I agree about Palmer, but i wonder what he would look like under differnt coaches, under new playcalling?I will route for the young guys as well, Shipley looks awsome. Only thing the young guys on the d-line so far dont look much better then the vets. I do want to see Dunlap, Atkins, MJ, to start more games. I have never been so disapointed in the d-line, wow they are terrible.

A lot of the plays look the same. Awesome then but antiquated now. He must have found the superbowl tape down in the basement of Paul Brown Stadium and decided to run with it. ArmyBengal
I'd hate to have a knee jerk reaction right after a loss and just give up on the team and coaching staff and give up carign whether they move to LA or not.Not knee jerk for me, just honestly how I feel. This team is unsightly bad across the board. No one appears to care and the coaching is beyond terrible. Not trying to be funny or a dick, but you keep believing, I'm sick of this crap. It's obvious the same old Marvin Lewis s**t isn't working. I ahven't seen the post game quotes but I'd be willing to bet he said "We just need to get better. We need to work harder in practice and get a little better each day". It just doesn't happen often and there's a reason for that. Age.Sure there is talent on this team and no, we can't dump everyone, but there are more than a few starters that I could do without completely or at least could be upgraded. Chad, TO, Livings, Cook, Williams, Geathers, Tank, Odom, Dhani, Crocker, whatever other safety is starting in place of the broken Roy Williams. You could argue there are more with a non-existant RT for Benson to run behind and a horribly underachieving, not mean from MMA training, Rivers. They have a fairly new stadium so moving the team isn't going to be a viable option so just throw that idea out the window now.I agree with that and don't think they are leaving either. I'm only saying if they continue doing what they have since, well, a d*mn long time, they may as well. I'm waiting for the sellout streak to end and sh*t hitting the fan. There will be arguing on both sides and nothing will happen. It'll get better though. The Bengals will beat the Steelers next week and everyone here will be happy again!!I have zero faith it will get better. I actually think it will get worse. I don't think the Bengals have a chance in hell of beating the Steelers next week and even if they do, it won't change anything more about what this team is, outside of their win loss record. This team beat the Ravens this year as well, but I don't see anyone hanging hats on that anymore either.Steelers - 17Bengals - 42I tell you what, I hope more than anything you are spot on. Nothing would make me happier than to hand the Steelers a loss.I simply would view it the same way as when the Buckeyes use to have bad seasons, but beat the Wolverines. Yeaaaaah...Sounds real negative on my part and I'm more than aware of that, but this is terrible. If not for a pass that should have been an INT, on another bad pass from Carson, bouncing into TO's hands, it would have been worse today. This is the worst pass rush i have ever seen. If you watch these guys they all get bunched in the center of the field, there is no speed rush on the outside.Where are the blitzes, how about stunts, how about CB or saftey blitz. I see Zim doing nothing, and when he does the blitz dosnt even come close. Worst d-line/blitzing i have seen in sometime. Looks like Chucky is coaching again. kenyon1977
Out of all that we only really disagree on one thing Army. I think things will get better.1.) The offense looks pretty good outside of all the dropped passes. If that stops then they will get soem thing going other than the 9 in a row 3 and outs.2.) The cold weather is about to start and we get the Saints and Chargers coming to our house that has no heat. Ownership is too cheap to pay the gas bill to heat that big sombitch.3.) Big Ben and Flacco are going to go on a drinking binge weekend in Vegas and rape a bunch of chicks so they'll be out the rest of the season. Just need to step this one up quicker than previously planned.4.) I love football and love the Bengals. I take it to heart when they lose. They have to do better or else they are going to give me a damn heart attack. 5.) The sellout streak is going to continue. I wish I had a ticket to next weeks game. That place is going to be ROCKING!!!! and that's why it's going to get better. Next week the Bengals are going to put on a clinic (not one of those free ones I had to go to after being overseas) but a clinic in time of possession and scoring drives. 6.) OH and no matter what they have to do Mike Brown wants them to finish strong so he doesn't ahve to write another big check to a damn high draft pick that's unproven. CBA? maybe. but he;s taking no chances. They don't want to have to draft a top 5 guy. Too much money and the team is cheap.F&CK the STEELERS!!! ArmyBengal
Out of all that we only really disagree on one thing Army. Yeah, most people get all defensive when they are quoted a lot, but I was only trying to make points off what you said and like I said, I wasn't trying to be a dick. It's all good. I also love football and love the Bengals. There's simply no way to deny that seeing as how I have followed them since the beginning (almost).I'm just sick of a team that should be contending, fall to pieces to such an extent that I'm laughing at them while watching the game.Since I first brought it up in week 1 or 2, I've been watching and everytime Carson audibles by raising his hand, it's a running play.EVERY F*CKING TIME WITHOUT FAIL.I expect to get a cease and desist from talking about it though, because I'm pretty sure they don't think other coaches can figure that out.
kenyon1977
Well, if the other coaches can't figure that out then it's probably a secret as to which TE is in the game whether it's a run or a pass, LOL, Shhhhhhh it's a secret!! kingwilly
In the vain of this topic, how stupid does Marvin Lewis sound answering this question:Is there any explanation as to how a team can master a textbook drive to start the game, and then be pretty ineffective the rest of the game?“We moved the ball well, particularly in the first half, but it’s hard to answer that question right now without watching the tape.”First, was he watching the game on the field, right in front of him? How the F does he not know the answer? What more can he learn from the tape that will tell him they are the poorest NFL team at making adjustments and adapting the gameplan to what is happening on the field?FFS, it's right in front of you, Marvin!!! It is what it is: Lack of discipline and lack of determination. Here is another gem, this time from Carson:You said a busted play. Did they show you coverage you didn’t think you were going to get?“No. They just jumped the play. They read the play and jumped it. I need to do a better job of taking off running or just taking the sack.”Now, how could they possibly know the play and get a jump on it? Maybe because they've seen it about 20 times already this season???The playcalling is so predictable, so obvious, a team we play once every 4 years can jump the plays... Duh.This team does not have the aptitude to overcome the quality of the other teams coaching staffs. Pretty simple. It has been remarked that this feels an awful lot like 2003. I could not agree more. ArmyBengal
They need to get their money back on the "Coaching for Dummies" book they bought prior to the start of the season. Then again, maybe they just didn't read it and that would make it on them yet again...**sigh**

This team has had problems with play predictability for waaaaay too long. It amazes me that they haven't brought in a half-assed poker player (who's played football) to watch tape of games and make a list of the Bengals' tells. Best part is I bet they could get a fan to do it for free, which I realize is the most important quality for Mikey.

It would also be more likley to get us new coaches. Understood. With nothing to play for the only thing that will be determined in the coming weeks months is the future of a few players and most coaches. And sadly, a respectable finish is likely to result in far fewer changes. Happily, a respectable finish is unlikely due to the very players who have become the public face of this franchise. In fact, the only way I can envision this team avoiding a mini-meltdown in the coming weeks months is if it suddenly developes a respectable level of offensive prowess, thereby allowing this teams biggest and most unstable egos some much needed media cover.....instead of each being accurately portrayed as the clowning face of failure. And there's the rub. Because the weakest and most unstable ego of the bunch is also one of the loudest and poorest performing, and if I know Chad like I think I know Chad he's got to be this >< close to blowing up and melting down. And there's the OTHER rub. Because now that it no longer matters I hope Chad does blow up. In fact, I hope it's a meltdown on an epic scale. Because no matter what happens with this teams coaching staff after this season I believe the single greatest threat to this team's immediate and near future rests upon the decision to keep Chad another season or allow him to leave in FA with a 3.5 million dollar parting gift. And knowing Mike Brown as we do the odds he keeps Chad another season are probably good to very good. And that's very bad, right? Frankly, this team needs a player to sacrifice himself by stepping forward to hit the right button, expose the fuel rods, scuttle safety measures until containment is breached, and then sit back and watch in fake horror as our reactor begins to sink towards the Earth's core even as it spews a toxic cloud skyward....killing everything in it's unstoppable path with cleansing radiation. And as gloriously horrible as that might sound the simple truth is this team actually needs a meltdown. More specifically, it needs the type of stupidity-rooted meltdown that only an unprofessional douchebag like a Chad can bring. Which brings us to our final rub in the series. By melting down Ochocinco can be our Prometheus, the tortured hero who gave humanity the gift of fire after stealing it from the gods. snaps bong/laughs/snaps again
