skyline Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Hey did anybody get sent down in the Wood recall?Leake was sent to the bullpen, and Micah Owings is being traded/released. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 How much do you love this ??I went to bed when it was 7-2 D-Backs and woke this morning thinking the Reds had blown an opportunity to put some distance between them and the Cards. What a great surprise the 11-7 win was when I turned on ESPN this morning !!! Amazing they have gone this whole season coming from behind and not giving up.There was an article recently about Baker saying how he was trying to keep the team focused. I think it's about time for those that have bashed Baker to finally give the guy some credit. He hasn't worn out any of the young arms and has found a way to keep a pretty young team focused and believing the game is never over until it's over.Sorry, I still dont like Baker as a manager. I will give the credit to the front office for making very good player moves and will still claim that with a better manager, the Reds would have the division in hand with the talent they have this season. You don't have to like Mike Brown as an owner either, but some credit has to be given for the drafts the last 2-3 seasons. I don't think Baker's situation is any different, in that he has had a part in the way this team has performed. He went from 74-88 his first season to 78-84 last season and so far this season, he has the Reds at 69-51. Minus a meltdown, the Reds will have their first winning season in 9 seasons and are not only looking at the playoffs, but an NL Central crown. It's speculating either way what another manager would do.I'm not saying Baker is the greatest or anything even close. I'm only saying he deserves some credit for what this team has accomplished.I find it hard to believe someone would disagree with that sentiment...Oh well, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Quote
semiotter Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Feeling good about game 3 tonight. Woods pitching and the bats are Red hot. I'm hoping Jays bat stays hot. Man that would be hugh Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Feeling good about game 3 tonight. As am I semi. Let get the win, take the sweep, and hope St. Louis continues to stumble. Quote
semiotter Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Marty & Cowboy calling game on the AM sweet Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Woods is struggling to find the strike zone early. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Oh man... the Reds defense is AWESOME! The ball was hit off of Woods leg, and they still turn the double play. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Oh yeah! Hernandez just went yard on Arizona! 3-0 Cincinnati! Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Sweet!!! Jay Bruce just went yard for back to back home runs!!! Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 The local announcers here in Arizona were just pimping Skyline Chili from previous stays in Cincy! Nice. Quote
Stripes Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 I'd have liked to score some runs in that fifth inning with two runners in scoring position with one out, but oh well. Wood won't let them anywhere close anyways. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 I don't know if anyone else here is watching this game live, but Woods is looking very good on the mound tonight. Sure he gave up a homer, but he's still hitting his spots and picking his pitches. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 HUGE 8th inning by the Reds. The sweep is sealed with a now 9-1 lead, and up three and a half games on the Cardinals. Dudes, this team is jelling! Quote
semiotter Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Late inning fireworks again tonight. 5 run 8th makes it 9-1. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Quote
semiotter Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 And this one belongs to the Reds! Quote
BlainThePain Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Bullpen is starting to show some holes again, but all in all, a great series for the Reds. The thing that impresses me the most about the Reds is that Baker can mix the batting order any way he wants and it always seems to work. Quote
Stripes Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Awesome.Dodgers are next, in a stadium where the Reds love to s**t the bed. This year's different though. Quote

I'm glad that Baker's inept game management skills have not hurt the Reds as much this season as it has in the past, but I hate the fact that he will get an extension due to the good play of the team this year. semiotter Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Hey the Bullpen did give up a few runs. But Ariz has 3 or 4 really good hitters. Quote
