HairOnFire
Alright...being that I'm the instigator and need a reason for you guys get bash on me, I'll say it...I bet Smith does not start a game in stripes......and he may not even play another down in them as well. Well, if we're betting I'll put all of my money on Peter King being completely full of crap....on this matter and everything else.
ArmyBengal
I'm still holding out hope with Dre, although I will say I don't buy anything that someone like King has to spout off about. He's proven time and time again to simply say anything just to get a read and stir the pot. He's a hack.Dre' is a big man that broke his foot. While I'm not happy with that, I have no idea what he has or hasn't done while trying to rehab from this injury. If someone has first hand info, it would be nice to hear. Then again, maybe his boobs are still pissing off some people. derekshank
The only thing I remember hearing from Marvin on the subject of Andre Smith was in an interview with Solomon Wilcots. Andre Smith walked by while they were talking and ML made jokes about Andre being slimmed down and being a swimsuit model. By all indications, they had a good relationship and Marvin at least appeared to be happy with how he was coming along.Marvin may not be happy that Andre is taking longer than he had hoped to come back from foot surgery... but I call bulls**t on the idea that he's not happy with Andre as a person. Peter King should go work for TMZ. There he doesn't have to worry about facts, and just rely on unreliable sources like he has been doing for years. Kazkal
Hobnob only repeated what he had read from King (who he has a brocruh on)Before camp, Marvin Lewis said he expected second-year right tackle Andre Smith to be ready for the first practice after missing all of the spring camps with foot surgery. Instead, he showed up and said he’s shooting to play in the last two preseason games. And on Thursday Lewis ripped Smith’s work ethic to Peter King of SI.com, as well as what he thinks is the Alabama coaching staff leading the Bengals astray in the days leading up to the draft, where they picked him sixth. Although Lewis is upset Smith didn’t properly rehab the foot, King seemed to suggest that Smith is also having problems with conditioning. Some how I doubt Marvin would be talking shet about one of his own players to king ...though he could be trying to motivate him but guess we'll have wait and see... derekshank
Hobnob only repeated what he had read from King (who he has a brocruh on)I'd love to hear the actual quote of what Marvin really said to King. He so rarely says anything in a straightforward manner. I wonder how much interpreting King did on that.
membengal
It could be motivational. Along the lines of the Ravens "failing" Terrance Cody in his first conditioning drill. Could be ML turning up the heat on Smith to get him with the program. On the whole, if that is it, I would be a lot happier as a fan if he didn't require such a push, but, it is what it is. I heard a report from a fan who went to Georgetown that he stuck out as being very overweight and "not into it" like the other players are. ArmyBengal
I still can't say as I'm buying here. Why would Marvin unload on Big Dre' to Peter King and no one else ?? When has he EVER done that ?? When has Marvin EVER used that tactic in motivating one of his players ?? When has that ever been done when said player, who weighs better than 300 pounds is coming back from a foot fracture ??Once again, I'm not about to say I'm happy with the way things have gone, but a big guy fracturing his foot is going to take time.I'm also not good in calling someone suffering an injury a bust, although some are. Some think Pollack was a bust I suppose, I don't. ArmyBengal
On a side note, the #2 overall pick last year, Jason Smith has a fractured toe and there is talk in St. Louis that he could be replaced by this years 2nd round pick, Rodger Saffold. Amazing how when a fat guy up front breaks something in his foot, it can be a problem.

HairOnFire
Well, I'd prefer a better source, but Hobson is verifying the story. Hobson verified PART of the story, and even that was a mixed bag because he quotes coaches who admit the foot isn't healed yet. As for King, he's always struck me as the type who takes a crumb and tries to craft a meal out of it.
ArmyBengal
I'll concur with Kaz and Hair on what to take from Hobson and I find it odd, that Hobson (the official .com writer) wasn't privy to that information and had to report on what someone outside of the organization had to write about what Marvin said. DC_Bengals_Fan
Per PFT, word is our favorite fatass is up to 370. I wish somebody would give me $10s of millions of dollars to be a complete f*ckup.
ArmyBengal
There was also a story there about how the Bengals recoup over $31,000 for each week he's above 350 lbs I think.Something tells me, the Bengals will be getting some serious cash back... Kazkal
If he's injured and can't workout he's gonna be heavy "shrug"bit concerning but mount cody did it so can't be that hard
ArmyBengal
That's been my whole point with this. The guy is a fat body to begin with, like most linemen over 300 are. When you throw in a fractured foot to the equation, it's not hard to think he's going to get bigger. When they get bigger, it certainly can't help the foot heal any quicker. What I will say is, if I had the money that he has and was truly worried about keeping my weight down, I would have someone cooking all my meals for me, so I wasn't eating freakin' McDonalds everyday and would be very active in the pool to try to get whatever aerobic exercise I could without straining the foot. Now, I have no idea what he's doing, but whatever it is, it isn't working. I wish somebody would give me $10s of millions of dollars to be a complete f*ckup.I was at the Saturday pm camp and I can definitively say that the guy looked like a TLC channel "I'm a 600 pound virgin" candidate. The guy is obese and I think PFT's estimate is probably accurate. He has got to be the fattest, laziest millionaire there is. I would love to eat a whole bunch of crow on this, but damn, I don't see this guy amounting to anything. He was over on the other field pushing a sleigh for a few seconds then resting. Then he'd push it again and then rest. His workout seemed like something a doctor would have an obese patient do. As he walked into the stadium after he finished his "workout," someone in the stands sarcastically yelled, "Good workout Andre!" That about sums it up. I really hope he gets into shape and can help the team, but I am extremely pessimistic at this point.
