Kazkal
I know it takes two to tango,But after seeing the deal Willis got who probably deserving to be top 5 payed Defensive Player in the NFL signed a pretty good Bargin deal for the 49ers...So got me thinking wouldn't now be the best time to Resign Joseph & Hall?If they'd be willing to take a deal like WIllis seems like be Bargin to lock down your duo of top flight corners... So, I see it as pretty unlikely that they will get out in front of this particular curve. That, combined with the uncertainty regarding the CBA, leads me to conclude that they're actually less likely than normal to go hard after longer term deals with their own players this year. They are as conservative as it gets with signing players (and they usually run a pretty hard bargain ala Chad). All that said, I agree with you that the 9'ers probably signed a good contract with Willis.
Trevor
Ya never know... We've already spent more than we usuallly do on FA's... We'll probably let some ppl go and sign jjo and leon both next year hopefully...
BengalPimp
I along with many others have been saying sextend them early before the price goes up, and I believe they would have extended at least JJoe this year (Hall still has a couple of years left), but with the uncertainty of the 2011 season, I think that kind of killed it.Here is the problem though...Top CB's are expensive, and Leon Hall is the better of the 2. If you extend JJoe (who's contract expires first) to a big deal, Hall will (and should) get even more. My thing is, sign them before they make the ProBowl, because after that....you won't be able to afford them. While I would really like the Bengals to extend both Hall and Joseph, I don't want them doing what the Niners did. Patrick Willis is an absolute monster, and IMO the best MLB in the NFL right now (Sorry Ray Lewis/Brian Urlacher), but the 49ers gave him a 5 year $50 million deal ($29 mill guaranteed), when he still had 3 years left on his rookie deal....HE STILL HAD 3 YEARS LEFT!!!! Kazkal
Just seems like with Mr Brown looking ways to save money 50million dollar CB contract beats 70-80 make in FA
cincy9275
i think mike doesn't think he can afford both jj and hall. the drafting of ghee and jones signing is the bengals trying to find another starter. to give mike a little credit, he pays to keep his better players. just look back at all the guys that have got extensions and new deals. when are they going to offer them new deals, no clue. you would like to think, it has to be on mikey's agenda.
