4th Round Pre-Pick Thread

Trade Shipley, and draft Mike Williams from Syracuse. Yes, he has his problems, but the dude had 49 Rec for 746 yds and 6 TD's in 7 games. He didn't have a Colt McCoy throwing to him, but that didn't stop him from dropping 209 Rec yds and 2 Td's on Northwestern or 186 Rec yds and 2 TD's on South Florida.

Not going to happen, I know, but neither is them drafting Gilyard.

If Chris Henry taught us nothing else, it's that you have to be on the field to help the team.

Shipley will be a good slot WR, plays STs, and won't be serving any suspensions. I like him.

Asante, that's the guy I was trying to remember. Yeah, wait for him or don't take safety at all and give me:

Newhouse and Blount...

A little ahead here, but follow that with John Connor, FB, Kentucky in the 5th.

Blount, an Oregon Duck? Hell yeah I'm for that. At 6'2" 240lbs , I'd like to see him maybe play a little FB as well. I'm thinking Leron McClain style(though he's about 15 lbs lighter than McClain). I do like Connor as a pure FB though.

Blount also has 7.3 yard avg for a big man and has break away speed.

still need

--the athletic and versatile OL

and then in no particular order

--big running back

--developmental QB. accuracy and quick release preferred.

--maybe another WR. maybe. Mardy? we'd all like him on our team

--cover safety

4a - move up to get Campbell? Guy is raw but has elite tools.

4b is sacrificed to move up.

5 - Blount

6 - Sean Canfield QB

7 - Danario Alexander WR

cant trade the supplemental pick.

Well, thank you Mr. poo-poo-the-plan...

He's officially the player i'll be pimping from this years draft unless we happen to end up with blount ;)

I get why people like Blount... but who are you going to cut for him to make the roster? Certainly not Scott. And who wants to let Leonard walk away with what he brings on 3rd down?

I'll be looking for two things tomorrow. FB, and OG. I know there are still some good defenders out there in the 4th, but I want the best FB in the draft, and I want O-Line help before it's too late to get someone worth taking (too late already?)

Don't carry a FB (gone the way of the Dodo). Voila.

In a pinch, Peko will do.

Keep 4 RB's then go light somewhere else either 9 Olinemen or maybe just 24 Defensive Players.

I would say look for Carlton Mitchell in the 4th. I have a personal wish for Dorin Dickerson because I think he is a nightmare of a matchup, but I think we are done with TE's. Also, either Skelton, Kafka, Canfield, or LeFevour will be a Bengal by the end of tomorrow.

They won't draft a QB. O-Line, Safety, they'll draft a LB, and maybe a DT.

DT is Doubtful with Dunlap being mentioned playing inside and Fanene more then likely being labeled DT maybe another 6th or 7th rounder.

LB is a maybe but I think with them maybe going keep 5 Ends they'll only keep 6 backers so if we do go LB be 5th or 6th...

Safety I think is most likely unless they think Nelson has turned in to a future starting caliber safety.

Alright... I've decided who I'm pimping for the 4th round. Mitch Petrus.

He's got the physical ability to be an elite OG, but needs to be coached up. He could replace Bobby when his contract is up, or if he learns quickly, could take the LG spot outright (not before 2011 I would expect though, since his problem is consistency).

Here's the wildcard... Arkansas brought him in as a TE and moved him to FB, before finally making him into a OG. With the way Brat likes to use the unbalanced line, a big guy like that who has experience as a TE and FB could be valuable immediately, even before he is good enough to take a starting OG job.

I like him a lot more than Newhouse... simply because henhas so much more upside. He at times looks like a 1st round talent, but just lacks the consistency. With some coaching, he could be the steal of this year's draft.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that Michael Johnson will be kept on the roster as a LB and we'll find another defensive tackle either through the draft, trade, or post roster-cuts free agency.

I'm all for it He still could put his hand down and rush the passer on 3rd downs,They got his feet wet less year with him dropping back in to coverage get them alittle wetter this year then he can move to SLB when rey goes inside...

Just when I look at MJ he looks like a linebacker sure he's 6'7 but seriously he gets extra inch or two from his neck he looks like same build as Keith Rivers/Brandon Johnson....not only that but Marvin would have his joker player that he wanted Pollack for.

The thing that concerns me with Petrus, is he only has 2 years of playing on the Line. I don't think the coaches are looking for a project right now. They want someone who will take no more than a year to get acclimated. Petrus is raw.

I agree to an extent... but the further you go in the draft you have one of two options. A player with a very low ceiling, or a project. I already pointed out how his versatility can come in handy while they are developing him. I just have a feeling he's going to end up being good in a year or two.

I've seen him play as well, i think he is an OK prospect, but he measured in at his Pro Day at 6' 0 1/8" 209lbs. Smaller than listed. The thing is, I'm a little gunshy about Georgia Defenders after Odel,Pollack, and Geathers. Can you blame me?

True but Pollack & Odell would have beeen great players had their careers not ended prematurely and Geathers I still feel problem why he has disappeared when comes to rushing the passer is the extra weight he put on.

NFL.com has him listed as 6'1 214 lbs and though he played SS wouldn't mind seeing him at FS.

I hate getting hyped on players I know we won't draft... Well I got really hyped up when I found out Denver didn't trade up for Maualuga and we actually took him.
