"The scuttlebutt continues to be that the NFL regular-season schedule gets released Tuesday and that the Bengals will be the first Monday night game of the year as the Jets’ first foe in their new stadium."

I would love the opportunity to go into the Jets' opening game in their new stadium, punch them in the mouth, and win a game nobody thinks we could win. I can't think of a better way to open the season and build momentum.

Put me in the camp that says, no thank you. A Monday Night game, on the road, against a team that handed us our asses, and it's their home opener in the new stadium. Again, no thank you. I would rather see them later on and it's not about being scared, simply there are some situations I would rather face any team in and that's not the one I would want to fact the Jets in.

If we pull out a win, sure, I would be really happy, but it could set up a rough start for them and that's not what this team needs.

I wouldn't go into that one thinking we would win. Just me...

Personally, I think the Jets are good but overrated. With the offseason still to come and with each year being a new one, I see the Bengals as having a good chance at being the better team. If the Bengals can fix some of the holes in the passing game and in defending the intermediate pass, they can and should beat the Jets. It'll be a good test, but I honestly don't think the Jets are near as good as their emotional end of the year run seemed to demonstrate.

I think the Jets will have some issues running without Thomas Jones. He was the primary back and softened up defenses.

Also, Sanchez seems like a guy who could have a serious sophomore slump. Nothing more than gut feeling but there it is.

Their defense will be very good, and it will be a team whose draft I will closely watch.

I just look at it in the mindset that you would think you would want to put your team in the best position to win and with everything surrounding this particular game, it just doesn't seem to me like it's where you want to start off your season. I don't know how much say there is in it for the teams, but I can also remember Marvin saying he doesn't like Monday Night games all that much anyway.

Play the game at home and it changes my perspective...

That comment kind of disturbs me, especially from an HC. It makes appearances as if he can't prepare for something out of the ordinary.

I have also heard him say a few times that "this team welcomes the opportunity to play in front of a national audience". I can understand where he says he doesn't like Monnday night games concerning the short week for preparation. Being week one, though, it's not as much of a concern as if it were week 9 or 10, etc.

I understand what you're saying and I don't disagree but...the NFL dictates who you play when you play them. All you can do and worry about is how hard you're going to smack the other team. I see this as a great opportunity to really gain some momentum for the rest of the year. They'll be underdogs anyway...so if they lose, so what? A Monday night game against a team that knocked them out of the playoffs should be the momentum to carry them through camp. If they win, it can really set the tone of the season. I like it.

It's been a long time since this team has seemingly taken the approach of being the team with the upper hand. Let's hope they do that this year. Play who you play. Got to "beat the best to be the best". (insert other lame cliches here)

IMO Tomlinson can still produce, and make their loss of Jones a non issue.

Tomlinson can produce, I agree, but Tomlinson is nowhere near the punishing runner that Jones is. LT is going to score and get his yards but he won't wear down the opposing defense like Jones can.

Also, many of the Jets said themselves that letting him go was a huge mistake on the part of management.

Wow. Interesting story line. This is the first I heard of the Bengals on week 1 MNF. Jet fans in general seem to be thinking Miami but Cincy makes a lot of sense.

*gets on knees and shouts at the sky REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course it does. Our teams playing each other three times in less than a year is an interesting angle.

Ya but last year We were hammered by injurys by the end of season and we'll we got Crocker & peko back for the playoff game was their first game back,Atleast if it's week one we should be Healthy...Though I would almost prefer Colts week one because tends take their offense a few weeks to be running at full force.

It's not to say there aren't things about this game that would be fun and sure, a win would certainly propel them a bit. However, IF they had the coice, which I understand they probably don't, I would simply think this would not be the ideal way to kick off the season and for all the reasons I've already given. Marvin's comments about not liking Monday Night games is simply from a preparation standpoint for next weeks game and the fact it takes a team out of it's routine and rhythm. I don't take his comments to mean he can't handle it, but rather, if he had his choice, he'd rather not.

Anyway, I'm down for NO, if the question is asked of if we want this game as the opener. Nothing further...

As far as it messing up routine, I would imagine that week 1 is the best time to have a Monday night game, simply because there is no routine established yet. It's certainly better than the middle of the season.

The Bengals also are playing in the Hall of Fame Game, so they are getting a lot of publicity here. The HOF game will be the most watched pre-season game of the year, and the first Monday Night game will probably be among the most watched regular season games of the year.

It's a great story line because the Bengals got beat up by the Jets twice in a row last year, and that is the lasting memory most people have of the Bengals. It's a great chance for redemption, and to show the nation that winning the AFCN wasn't a fluke.

Simply put, it's a pressure situation, and the Bengals need to get used to playing well in these situations. The Bengals lost all 3 of their high profile games last season. If they can't get used to winning on a big stage, what is the point of having a good season?

Bring on the Jets on Monday Night!

I'm just sick of Rex Ryan. 3 straight games against that fat b*stard? I'd rather not.

He's skinny now didn't ya know?

260 lbs is skinny?

He looks way over 260 to me. Closer to three bills, but maybe I'm seeing older pics of him... :P
