Also, I think 40 times are one of the most overrated things to look at when evaluating talent.

Maybe when your talking about an O-Lineman, Kicker or Punter. When it comes to positions in the secondary like CB or S, one or two tenths of a second can make the difference between making a play on the ball, and staring at the players name on the back of his Jersey as he scores on you.

He apparently looked awful in position drills at the combine, specifically back pedling.

He wasn't asked to do that at USC. I'm not really concerned about his "Back Peddling". He's not a CB. Playing Safety he is already starting farther back. He shouldn't have to back peddle more than a step or two (if that) before he turns. If your Safeties are back peddling alot, trust me, they're already beat.

1. Taylor Mays (Safety, USC)

2. Dez Bryant (WR, Oklahoma St.)

3.)Earl Thomas WR Texas

4. Mike Iupati (Guard, Idaho)

5. Brandon Graham (DE, Michigan)

When did Thomas switch to WR???

A typo because I was cutting and pasting someone elses? and forgot to delete the WR and put a FS? :P

PS,Using the pick for my final mock draft don't screw me guys and take a DT :P!

Ok, the Bengals are on the clock and will make their pick first thing in the morning. You guys have this evening to take a look at who is still on the board and drop a reply here to voice your opinion. I will count them up in the morning and make the pick. Here's a list of the most probable selection from "my" viewpoint and in no particular order:

RB: CJ Spiller

S: Taylor Mays

TE: Jermaine Gresham

DE: Sergio Kindle

WR: Demaryius Thomas

With looking at that list, if they go with the BPA thought process, the pick should be CJ Spiller without thought. Follow that with Sergio Kindle and Demaryius Thomas. Gresham and Mays bring up the bottom of that list in my opinion. If we are looking at those players, I think the only one they truly go wrong with is Thomas. I think this would present the ultimate situation for a trade down, but since we aren't working in trades, I still say it "should" be Taylor Mays.

Gresham is still to much of an unknown for me to take him over the others and Thomas is still broken. Kindle is also intriguing from an OLB thought process.

Do you think they go all out BPA regardless of what they have on the roster and take Spiller ?? Stranger things have happened, but I still think Mays just presents the most upside and potential while filling a HUGE hole for this defense and I would look VERY forward to seeing him in that secondary with our CB's to take pressure off of him to lay the wood.

Maybe the wrong move, but it's still Mays for me...

Brandon Graham went to Atlanta. However, DE Carlos Dunlap is still on the board.

OT Bruce Campbell should get at least a look, too, IMO.

Oops, missed that. Ok, scratch Graham and agree with getting Campbell on the list, although I would put him high on it with what else is there.

I'll go back and fix my post. Thanks Hoosier !!!

Looking at who's there, if it's my call (and Mikey has yet to invite me into the war room), I bite the bullet and take Gresham. If they aren't ready to pull the trigger on a first round TE, I go with Mays, then whichever DE they have ranked higher, Kindle or Dunlap.

Although I really like Gresham and think he will be a Pro Bowler, I can't pass on Taylor Mays. I wanted him last year had he come out. nothing has changed.

TAYLOR MAYS......No Brainer.

Still a bunch of people that haven't actually made a pick regardless of the actual discussion, so give your opinion...

From who is left.... We gotta get mays....

Mays...Kindle...Gresham...

In that order.

I agree and must say it sure would be nice to have this problem come next Thursday !!!

My concern is with teams like the Cardinals and Cowboys both wanting some safety help, swapping with Houston (not in their conference) over us to grab Mays. The Texans would still have a shot at a CB, RB, DT, or even some OL help, all the while picking up another pick.

By looking at the thread to this point, Mays has 10 votes, Gresham has one, and Kindle has one as well.

My preferred list: Mays, Kindle, then Gresham.

However, when the time comes for the Bengals to pick at 21st -- I fear another "Chris Perry" kind of pick. C.J. Spiller is still available.

I like the possibilities that Taylor Mays gives to Zimmer on defense.
