Report: Cardinals want a third-round pick for Boldin

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 3, 2010 10:33 PM ET

Cardinals G.M. Rod Graves has made it clear that his team is willing to trade wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

But what would it take to get Boldin out of Arizona?

Michael Lombardi reported on NFL Network that the Cardinals "only want a third-round pick" for Boldin. That's not too high a price for a starting wide receiver.

But, Lombardi said, the big sticking point is whether a team acquiring Boldin will be willing and able to fork over the money necessary to make Boldin happy. In other words, Boldin won't just cost a third-round pick. He'll cost a third-round pick plus a big new contract.

Boldin said after the season ended that he wouldn't request a trade. But the Cardinals may have come to the realization that their offense is just fine without him, and that they ought to get whatever they can for him. If what they can get is a third-round pick, the Cardinals would apparently be fine with that.

Money, money, money...

Key point to any of these trades is the same reason they won't be going back to thier former teams and why some teams won't bother to look.

MONEY...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind him either. Hell, give up our first and third to bring in Marshall AND Boldin and then sh*tcan Chad and Coles.

I halfway jest...

I want Boldin

Boldin wants 10 mil+ a year and we still have Chad who has been told a rework to his contract is coming. I would be curious to see how Chad would react to a WR making that much more than him when he has been bitching and moaning about being underpaid for years now. I guess anything can happen, but I would really like to see them start making moves to get younger at the position regardless of how anyone may or may not take it.

At least make attempts to right the WR ship. You want playmakers ?? Well, they are out there...

I like Bolden, he knows how to play and to get open and has good hands.- but-

The one thing that worries me about him is at the combine (back in 03) he ran a 4.75 and 4.83 40yd dash.

Then at his Pro day he ran 4.54 in track spikes, the scouts made him take them off and he ran a 4.62 which is still pretty slow.

The worry is you dont to pay too much money for a guy his age and have him loose a step.

what a guy ran in 2003, in the combine, is worthless.

that same season, he caught 101 passes for a really bad AZ team. 20 of them for more than 20 yards. yeah, he's too slow.

Coles still had hops but could not run the routes or catch the passes... who would rather have?

Simpson has all the measurables, but can't get on the field...

Why are we even trying to argue that a pro-bowler isn't? We know he can play but will he stay healthy?

That was my concern with Boldin. His health. One Fact people either tend to ignore, or just don't know....In 7 NFL seasons, Boldin has only played 16 games TWICE ! FYI he's played in 12 or fewer games in 3 of his 7 seasons (almost half)

I like Boldin, but I think his statistics are slightly inflated in the Arizona offense. You also have to consider the injury factor with him, and he's been struggling with that the past few seasons.

I also don't see him as a field stretcher, per se, although he's a player that could fill the TJ role perfectly and is a plus blocker.

The other thing is how much do you pay a guy with injury questions, who turns 30 in October? He'll certainly want to be paid at the Top 10 at his position.

If the Cards are willing to part with him straight up for a 3rd (and maybe a 5th or 6th), I'd do it. Otherwise, no deal.

Screw the 40. Here's what I know about Boldin: you can hit him in the face with a baseball bat and he'll still make the catch. I'll take that over some gator-arming candyass who runs a shade faster. Lookin' at you, DHB.

I'd look hard at both him and Marshall. It'll depend on money, naturally, but I'd love to get one or the other. Best bet might be to deal with the Cardinals while 10 teams are negotiating with Denver - otherwise, you get a bunch more teams looking at Boldin after Marshall is dealt.
