Trevor Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I'm not starting a new thread for this, but Joe Reedy is reporting New England TE Chris Baker will visit next week.HELLO! There we go now he is known for his blocking, correct?! Correct. In fact, it's fair to say that's all he's known for.Well thats definately what we need, so Goood news! haha i hope he gets a shot. He is 30 though we should still draft a TE like jimmy graham. Quote
johnswahoo Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 So is it me or are teams making out to much of dickerson running a 4.4 since hes the size of a WRIt's not that he ran the 4.4 or 4.3 but he has hands and is a good route runner. Second, while Pitt is not a great football program, Wanstead does run an NFL ready team operation. That is the problem with Daniels. Missouri ran a stretch offense and he didn't know how to block, hell he needs to relearn his position. Dickerson on the other hand he did not start his career as a TE. The Pitt staff originally tried him as a LB, but they were loaded at that position and needed to find the formal WPIAL and Western Pennsylvania player of the year a spot. In 2008 they started the transformation from defense to TE. While he only had 13 receptions in 08' his increased his reception total to 45 this past season for 508 yards and 10 tds....while that doesn't seem to be much and clearly not what many on this board might want to seek out of their TE, he played on a run oriented team. Imagine if the Bengals had a TE who could have been an outlet reciever who also could block down field? Another thing about Dickerson, he can play on Special teams, last season he had two return kicks, but imagine having a player that could provide as a blocker to Scott or Crosby? If there are teams like the Ravens and Cardinals courting him why wouldn't the Bengals? He is a solid prospect, and who says that you need to be 6'7? If that were the case Drew Brees as QB would never had been drafted and I guess the Saints wouldn't have won the SB. I would take a risk on this player more than any other TE out there right now....a late 2nd round or early 3rd round projection for this guy...Tebow is a bigger risk than taking Dickerson....he also has some good pedigree behind him. His father played basketball for Kansas State and his mother played for Lock Haven. The only thing I don't know too much about him is his academics. I think having smart players is important andif he was at least a 3.0 or better then he should be a lock at the Bengals #2 pick. Quote

I apologize for my confusion. It's probably the weed, right? Quote
COB Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 It's probably the weed, right?Probably is. But since you are in California, you're likely just following doctor's orders. You didn't go to medical school, he did. So for the sake of your health and well-being, blaze away. Quote

And yes mary-j is a mild form of acid which can cause some confusion. Lol Quote
7/11 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 i'd like to see chris baker here. good TE for brat's system.i still feel very strongly about two TEs in this year's draft...rob gronkowski and anthony mccoy. i think both are undervalued at this point and would be great mid-round pickups. if gronkowski checks out medically, i really doubt he lasts to our 3rd-round pick. mccoy's stock seems to be going up, but i still see him being available in the 3rd. I've seen plenty of McCoy and at this point I think he may be overrated. To be fair he's a solid prospect who could develope in a few years, but he's far from polished and strictly a mid round type IMHO. But if Gronkowski is medically cleared I'd actually take him over Gresham. But back to Baker, because again...he's not the guy I was thinking of when I described him as a solid blocker. In fact, now that I've been reminded of his playing days with the Jets I'd describe him as a receiving TE with fairly marginal blocking skills despite his size. Quote

blueridge Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 The best TE at the ombine did not work out-Rob Gronkowski. The guy is an all-around TE with elite skills for the position. He's an outstanding blocker as well as a smooth receiver who can split the seam in the middle of the field.Of course, his back is a big concern but, if it checks out,a big workout at his pro day will propel Gronkowski into the 1st round. I would have no problem with the Bengals taking him at #21. They need a guy like Gronkowski to open up the passing game and I think Bratkowski can adapt his "system" to accomodate an every-down pass catching TE. In my judgment, the second best allround TE in this draft is Colin Peek of Alabama. He will probably go in Rd 3.Jeron Mastrud is an interesting Day 3 guy. My PFA sleeper is Clemson's Michael Palmer, who is a big, underrated pass catcher. Whatever direction the Bengals go, they absolutely need to draft an every-down all-around TE. Coffman may turn out to be really good, but right now he's not good enough for anyone to be confident that he could fill the role of a true #1 TE in the NFL.I think the Bengals really need to use a premium pick on a TE. That's how I see it, anyway. Quote
Ickey44 Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 FA TE anyone?I think that would be a good pick up and I thought the same thing when I saw that he had been released. Hieden has been very productive for a mostly mediocre Browns offense for the last 8 years. Quote
cincy9275 Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 well don't worry about baker , he is now a seahawk. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/35853217/ns/sports-player_news/ Quote
Trevor Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I really hope we at least take a look at heiden, i've always liked him and his hate for joey porter... he wouldve been a pro bowler had he not had some bad offenses around him... But age is definately an issue... Quote
