Welcome witt-tiger29!

Good first post I must say! I don't expect any rookies to start in the defensive backfield come opening day, buy maybe by game #5 or #6...who knows? The same goes for the offensive backfield. I fully expect Chris Perry to become a major factor in the offense.

I just think it's Marvins style to break youngsters in by following the slow but steady method.

It seems like most people expect Ratcliff will be our nickel back with Deltha and Tory James as our startin corners. A little while ago Scouts Inc. had Keiwan in the watch for defensive rookie of the year, since they think he'll get lots of playing time. As far as Madieu, I expect he'll be given every opportunity to win the free safety job.

I think we will see Perry come in every once in a while when Rudi wants a break.

I think Chris Perry will get far more snaps than most fans here think. He's gonna be a Super Bowl Class runningback! Marvin didn't choose him 1st for some freakin' backup role! He's got all the skills James Brooks had, and then some!

He's the perfect backfield addition for Carson to work with. Not only can he run and block, but the man has the hands to turn the screen play into a serious threat!

In Marvin I trust! :player:

Honestly, I think Perry was drafted because we don't expect to be able to sign Rudi long-term. It took us quite some time to sign him to just a one year deal and that was almost entirely at the surprising lack of market interest for him.

More than likely, Perry will get plenty of snaps this season because he's Rudi's replacement and he'll need the practice.

As for our other rookies, they're all supposedly hard-working, intelligent, fast and atheletic... but not necisarily talented otherwise. A lot of our players are very raw and it was a big risk to take them...

Trust in Marvin until he gives us a reason to do otherwise...

Its not that suprising. Honestly, most teams already have a runningback about as good as Rudi. Over a full season, Rudi will probably be a 1200 yard runner - these days, thats middle of the road for a starter. Don't get me wrong, he's a solid back who won't hurt you, and I'm glad he's with the Bengals, but its not like he's one of the top guys in the league.

I'm luke-warm towards Perry. He doesn't seem particularly fast, not particularly strong, and when it comes to lateral movement I haven't seen much out of him. Hopefully he's got just enough of everything to be productive.

He's not very bright, for one thing. And he's going to get us quite a few penalties. I just don't like him, call it a gut feeling. All I care about is that he's better than Adrian Ross. I'm notorious for being wrong about everything, so here's to hoping the tradition continues. I've got this screen name for a reason, after all.

whoa whats the knock on the wild man (nate webster)?

I'll say that Nate Webster's the wrong man for the job. He's an Oompa Loompa. What's he listed at--6'1--225??? That's like Safety Size. He's going to get the f**k run over. He's got no meat in front of him.

There's going to be more gaps in that Defensive Line than a porno movie.

I'll say the Run Defense is going to be WORSE than last year.

webster would be a stud on defense but he needs a d-line(like in tampa) he is undersized with great speed. he is a sideline to sideline player. he's spectacular against the run if he has a good d-line. so i dont know what to expect out of him

I don't know if Nate Webster's height should be such a cause for concern. Zach Thomas and London Fletcher do terrific jobs for their teams, and I think Webster is faster than both of them, with a bigger mean streak. While he doesn't have their natural instincts or discipline, hopefully he can offset that with energy and speed. I think he could really make a name for himself if John Thornton continues to improve...

Who-Dey...

Don't get me wrong--hopefully Nate Webster DOES turn out to be Dat Nyegun's long lost brother. Evidently Bill Parcells likes undersized Linebackers too.

Dat is mean as f**k too.

It pretty obvious people have not seen webster play he is 6ft his official weight is 237lbs and he started 6 games for tampa last year when he started he lead the team in tackles. His only flaw is his intensity. He will get us penalties for sure. J.G. did not let nate go from tampa because he was no good they could not afford to keep him...J.G said that nate was a loss for there team.....This guy will not miss a tackle like some bengals we have or had.........The weight numbers are from minicamp this year... I forgot his other draw back is he isnt great in coverage for the pass....
