Sea Ray
Profootballtalk says Eli is the most highly paid QB:/>http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/06/on-further-review-its-eli-by-a-nose/By the way, I thought Mike Brown was a cheapskate? The folks complaining about Carson's money sound like they're cheaper than him.

It's almost like they were throwing around nickles as if they were manhole covers, ehh?
BengalPimp
As we talk about ways this team can get better, it struck me while reading here that Carson is the "highest" paid player in the league.Did this team get that value from him this year?As the article discusses, the Colts view when assessing players includes how replaceable a player is. Given the Run-First offense, and seemingly lesser emphasis on the QB to make plays, could this team "replace" Carson and invest monies into other players...?Do you think we would have done better with Michael Vick? do you think Osullivan would have been able have those 4th qrt comeback drives? 20+ tds 10 ints is pretty standard season for QB yes he didn't play like highest paid player should...But then again Chris Johnson is making next to nothing so funny how that works...Casrson is worth the money because it keeps him on the roster.DAMN RIGHT!!!!Besides, the whole "highest paid player stuff" is bullsh*t. Eli Manning has the richest contract of any QB in the league. Carson may have had a high salary last season (don't know for sure, as no link was posted), but that's just probably how the contract was structured for that particular year. Carson is not the highest paid player in the league, nor the highest paid QB.
ShulaSteakhouse
The problem with Mike Brown is he'll pay a QB or a RB a gold mine, but not anyone else.I've said that now for God knows how long. And yes, Mike Brown is cheap AND lazy. Anyone who defends that man is an idiot, period.
BengalPimp
He signed it after 2005 season if i'm not mistaken maybe 2006.Right before his knee imploded -- remember?/>http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2274314And exactly where in that article did it state he got paid $16 million this past season? I searched and found a couple more articles like the ESPN one, and I can't find anything stating he made $16 million last year.

Willie Anderson, Levi Jones, Antwan Odom, Chad Johnson, Andre Smith, and L. Coles are all players that have gotten big contracts from Brown. We all get that you hate Brown, but making things up to support your narrow point of view is classless. BengalPimp
According to the link I've posted below, Carson Palmer's 2009 Salary was 9.5 Million.....Not the $16 Million noted in the Topic....Check Facts first....FYI, it also shows the entire Bengals Roster Salaries for 2009, and their Cap Hits./>http://www.sportscity.com/NFL/Cincinnati-Bengals-Salaries

But what was his cap number? He could've had another 7 million as part of a signing bonus that counts toward the cap, too.

BengalPimp
Please do....As I see no way it would ever average $16 million. He had 3 years left on his contract, and it was essentially a 6 year extension potentially paying him up to 118.75 Million over 9 years....if you divide 118.75 by 9 you get an average of 13.19 Million...So yes, please do build me a chart, and draw me a picture as well, because obviously I can't count as well as some....BTW his "Cap" number was $14 million. First, they eliminated the final year of his first contract. Second, the subsequent final year counts toward his first, not second contract. This is just be semantics as I am only going by the details in the article. It looks like they must be averaging his remaining contract value, over the remaining years. (Disregard the Cap Hit column, I couldn't figure the formula)I submit:
